oh boo hoo. honestly, we should just cancel all sports. they have absolutely NO need in grammar, jr high, and/or high schools. these kids should be learning that is all.
then we do not have to worry about ignorant chants, thin skinned people getting upset and then want to shoot you, and then we will never have to worry about concussions ever again.
abolish them all. finally, be done with all of them. way too many kids getting hurt at a very early age now, way too many deaths from weak hearts, way way too many parents taking it as if this their kids shot at super stardom.
this is some of the weakest crap I have ever heard. do you honestly think that some kid(boy or girl) on the field/court/ice/mats is getting so worked up they cannot focus(then they do not deserve to be there in the first place) and comprehend their job/duties at that particular point in time??? or they are getting so damn upset(then the coaches) should have realized you have a
psychopath on your team) that they want to shoot someone.
or are you trying to tell me that these kids/parents are getting so angry from words/digs/chants that they are actually capable of causing bodily harm to others.
supporting and trying to simply enjoy a game and some chanting fun by normal everyday teenage students. no where in here does it say anything about calling people names.

Another great straw man argument example.

Theres a huge difference between Brin and Newt. Whether I agree or disagree with newt he is able to articulate an idea that clearly had some effort and thought behind it. Brin is the guy who stated years ago that he didnt think he should be taxed for the fire dept and voiced his opposition to health insurance.

We have to keep this in perspective.
Bones - I know that Brin is way, way out there in his views ... my point was that he and Newt follow whatshisname rather blindly on other topics.

This is all pretty ridiculous. If you don't think chanting goes on at HS basketball or football you haven't been to any games in about a decade. Nothing wrong with what was chanted at the OPRF/Fenwick game, was actually pretty creative one the "please don't sue us" if you think that is over the line, you should never leave your house, not watch TV, not listen to the radio and certainly not listen to sports radio.

was the student section chanting vulgarity? No. Were they chanting threats? No. Were they chanting obscene comments about family? No. Would all that be over the line, it certainly would be and I have seen administrators jump on that type of stuff pretty quick.

I was not at the game, but, my understanding from a HUGE Fenwick booster was the majority of Fenwick players had smiles and they certainly got the last laugh which is
THEY WON! easiest way to shut up the other fans.

I don't think I have been to a HS game in the last 5-6 years where each sides fans chant "airball" or yell/cheer loudly when the other team is at the FT line.

Its like you are looking for an issue to get upset over.

sticks and stones may break your bones but NAMES will never hurt you.
get over it.
Dogz, you can't argue with a wall and this guy is one. Jesus Lord he fights with everyone. This whole November 8th election has completely thrown this guy off his rocker. Couple that with the Cubs WS win and MC missing the playoffs and it's three strikes and he's out. It's glorious to see.

This guy really needs to walk away from the board for a while because he has completely lost it. He is being combative, just to be combative.

Seriously, I don't know what to think with some of you.

My issue with spectator taunting has nothing to do with players' feelings, most of the time they probably don't even know it's going on anyways, but I don't think spectators earned the right to criticize players when they can't even make the team. If you think you can throw a pass or shoot a ball any better than join the team. If you have something to say to the player seek them out after the game and tell it to their face rather than sitting in the stands like a coward shouting insults.

This is a serious question, is everyone from Park Ridge a complete looser? While I don't think so, I'm finding it hard to think otherwise. I played with a kid from MS, I can't remember his name, but we called him Ernie, because he looking like the Sesame Street character...maybe you know him. He had **** for brains and couldn't defeat a block to save his life. Anyways, one night we are drinking in our dorms with some girls and he walks out only to come back a couple minutes later with his shirt off and I think he scared off the girls because they left and he took off shortly after leaving a half his beer behind. He didn't make it past his soph year, then tried track and last I heard he was doing porn, no joke. Next I run into Mr. Fabulous at the Bally's on Cumberland, next is some MS poster challenged me to a pancake eating contest not too long ago and then we have you. What gives?

I live in Park Ridge. Both of my children attended MS. One is an atttorney, the other a special education teacher. I am fairly confident that if they were to call someone a loser on a message board, which I'm sure is highly unlikely, they would, at the very least, spell loser correctly.

While I myself cannot answer for all of Park Ridge nor would I try, my guess would be that you are a thin skinned douche more worried about everyone else than whether or not you got it right. And if you were a glam boy hanging out at Bally's, I think we have our vision of you complete.

Too bad your kindergarten teacher didn't tell you not to use "retarded' as an insult. That's really poor.
At the end of Animal House, Kent Dorfman became a "Sensitivity Trainer".
For some reason this just popped into my head.

100% agree. one of the drawbacks typing on a phone, not easy to check for prose, spelling and grammar.

I'm against taunting 16 year old kids on a playing surface, not against taunting a grown man on a message board. Not really taunting anyways, more or less retaliation for multiple threads he's itched me the wrong way. I should not have brought all of Park Ridge into the argument, nor pancake king and ernie...neither had anything to do with this. For that I apologize, but my feelings for PR will likely never change.

What you Park Ridge gentleman don't know is that Brin has a history of bashing MS. Also making exaggerated claims about the football team. Isn't that right Brin? Maybe MWittman should come in to give everyone a history lesson on Brin.

Not entirely true MS. I won't bother repeating what the story was about, because it turned out now to be true, but all I did was copy in a link to an article. I NEVER accused the players of anything.

The IHSA ended up making a statement on the article...do you really think the IHSA is going to go through the trouble of making a statement if it was just one guy on a message board?

I love "being combative just to be combative." This is from the guy who makes claims he refuses to back up -- and later, says he did.

Generality, generality, generality.

Now, there's unrest in the minion nation. Brin and Newt are at odds and neither knows what the boss wants them to do. What's a sycophant to do?

I think what has been determined is that nearly everyone has a different "do not cross line"

"Please don't sue us" chant is not taunting 16 year olds. In my mind. Personally think it's clever. It's not targeting an individual kid etc.

Most Kids and adults root for their team in a positive way. When the other team misses a big pass or misses a field goal cheering can be heard from the stands coming from both kids section and adults..... Is this taunting? No in my mind. Is it in good form to root for errors and miscues from 16 year old kids?probably not- but if that is the worst thing that happens in life - then one is most fortunate in my mind.

Now beyond HS - since it's in bad form to heckle from the stands - do I have to find cutler live and in person to tell him I am disappointed in some of his Brain freeze decisions? Or can I just heckle him from the "No Cutler thread" and in the stands at a game? Can I throw the ball like cutler? No. Could I do any better on the field? Obviously no. Am I smart enough to throw it away versus forcing the ball into triple coverage? Yes.., yes I am!! I have One out of three on cutler!!

You Park Ridge boys will probably be very annoyed, but I lived there for 18 years. To be even more annoying, I knew Hillary's parents (they lived across the street from me.) I never went to Bally's however. I ran laps at the park district facility on Touhy. Mike North from the Score worked out there, as well, but always as "a guest."

Secondly, I hate bullying of all kinds, but that OPRF stuff was incredibly innocent -- to the point of almost being a tribute. I think "Don't sue us" was a neat way of saying, ":Good for you for suing the IHSA." Remember, ignoring someone is the worst kind of insult.

This thread has gotten so long, I can barely follow it. Peace be with all of you.

You just messed with the wrong person MR.
Whoever it is you think you are, I can tell you there are people in this world who stand for what is right and choose to be a better person than most. MS4 is one of those people.

I'm perfectly fine being the target of ire, but you Mr Jag seem to be pretty thin skinned as I figured.
