Fenwick has lots of money. Those with lots of money get what they want. Fenwick will apply enough pressure on the IHSA to switch the outcome. Once again as most posted on here, it's a shame that the outcome was what it was, but organization's do not overrule the decisions made by officials (nor should they). However...........the IHSA will probably have some big time Fenwick people threatening lawsuits. Plainfield North better get ready with some lawyers of their own. Get ready for the IHSA to cave!

Not gonna happen. How many hundreds of bad calls have occurred over the years in every sport at every level affecting the outcome of a game. Not just the IHSA, ya know.

What about ESL? Presumably the coaching staff spent Sunday (and probably late Saturday) watching perhaps a half dozen films of PN; then each phase came up with a game plan which is no doubt being installed this afternoon. At this point it is simply not realistic to declare the Friars the winner

If money could buy the IHSA board members the whole high school system would be corrupt, kinda like politics in the State of Illinois. On second thought.............. LOL

I think there are like 5 posters that don't seem to understand that this situation is not like all the other officiated variables that occur during the course of the game that alter the course of the game.

One last time:

The flag was correctly thrown

Once the penalty was announced, the game is over.

Whatever happened after the announcement of the penalty cannot be recognized by the IHSA.

Once the IHSA cited the by-law that eliminates them from the appeal process, they recognized the incorrect enforcement and the proceeding plays and result. Thus the rule book has become a suggestion book.

There's precedent by the IHSA for this too - they were sued in 1995 by Mt. Carmel in the wrestling dual meet and the circuit court ruled in Mt. Carmel's favor. The IHSA just cancelled the event because of appeals etc. Same is going to happen here I am afraid.

You may be right, but in my mind an additional injured party would be added to this whole mess if the game is cancelled - ESL, which had zero, zipp, nada to do with this. Am I correct in assuming that a cancelled game is exactly that - a cancellation - and not a forfeit?

Likely title vacated for 2016. Not the correct answer for this situation, ESL did nothing wrong here.

I don't think the IHSA will fight this if Fenwick win simply because technically the game should have been over. Right now they are following their bylaws and rightfully so however if a court over turn them justice is served so I don't see them fighting it too hard. ESL will agree to play either team.
