South Carolina...a program that has not won an NCAA Tournament game since 1973 managed to get Frank Martin.

We are maybe going to hire a coach that could not hack it at UAB or a guy that Calipari is trying to pawn off on us.

Can we get an AD for the big three and just let Stricklin stick to hiring for women's sports?

If Davis gets hired I will simply just forget about Mississippi State basketball. Thats Croom 2.0 if there ever was such a thing. If its so bad you feel like you have to hire Davis then you need to walk down the office and tell Cunningham that its his show now and be done with it.</p>
I swear to god I am done with Mississippi State basketball if we hire Davis. I live in Birminghamand watched him suck the life out of the only sport UAB gets excited about.

Give me Kirby, Cunningham or Kenny f'n Payne over Davis any day of the week.

Because that wasn't your line in 2004, prior to those issues when you still wanted Stansbury fired.

I pointed out his flaws to the Apologists like you and others- I didnt call for his firing till 2009-2010

but if the next recruits at all and has players that work hard and are disciplined- the winning will take care of itself

Davis has very little in common with Stansbury as a coach. Rick could recruit to small-town Starkville with very little basketball history. Davis couldn't recruit to basketball power Indiana.
He also is as exciting as oatmeal, and failed tomaintain eventhe UAB fanbase.
This would be a significant downgrade.</p>
err, I forget, how much has Indiana accomplished pre-Knight. Oh, that would be nothing for 20 years. Indiana was no powerhouse from the late 50's to the Knight years, and had not mattered much since their Championship in 1953. Then Knight comes in , wins 3 National Titles, which is only 1 less than the number of times in 29 years he missed the NCAA tourney. <div>
</div><div>After getting fired on what was clearly was "entrapment" Knight went on to take a horrible basketball program (texas tech) and get them to the sweet sixteen. Knight proved it was him and not Indiana that was the powerhouse. </div><div>
</div><div>My point is that Mike Davis' record would never compare to his predecessor. Neither would his recruiting. And While I believe he would be, at best, a lateral move, I believe you underestimate his coaching Acumen.</div>

Why does that come as a surprise to you?? In case you didn't know, Mississippi has a national reputation of being the most racist state, fattest state, most uneducated state, and poorest state. Starkville, the land of strip malls, doesn't have that much curb appeal either. I don't care what you think, location matters when it comes to a job and Mississippi is a terrible location for outsiders.

with guys working hard yet we never win over 20 games, that's an upgrade? Significant? Question for you, since you strongly believe that our basketball tradition is as good if not better than our baseball program's history, do you believe that we have a better basketball tradition than the Hoosiers? You would think that if herode another coach's players to the final four that he could parlay that into some great recruiting classes especially at tradition rich Indiana yet he completely sucked and also embarrassed the university. Yeah, that's a "significant" upgrade. Also, the point of trying to build any program is to win games and put/keepfans in the seats, I could not give a **** less about how hard our team hustles and our reputation, IF we are only winning 15 games a yearand getting beat regularly by Ole Miss. With this hire, Ole Miss will pass us by in hoops which never happened under Stans and it was nice winning the overall SEC title and a couple of SEC tourney championships. The point of changing coaches is to upgrade so I am glad that you are officially "good" with this possibly happening. I am sure that we will be a frequent sweet 16 team considering that it is easy to get "final four" type talent to come to MSU. With his abilities and your complete support of this process, I am really looking forward to these golden years that should be coming in the next few years. stokedku

You have been calling for Stansbury's head for almost a decade and the only difference now is you are relying on the most dysfunctional program BS. The dysfunction is no longer here said:

and statements are for you. MSU basketball>>>>Indiana Hoops tradition wise? How will Davis win here when he could not at Indiana or at UAB in conference USA? Also, away from the hustling players and integrity ****, how many wins per year and how soon should we expect it from our "big time" hire? You guaranteed us that there was a stable of great coaches that were anxiously awaiting a job like MSU to open up and that they would jump at the opportunity? Does Davis fit that description or were you just plain 17ing wrong as usual about the entire process. Assuming we hire Davis, which is it? Hero hire? Or the fact that you were completely wrong about every aspect of this search?

to sway this board on liking Kenny Payne. No way possible Stricklin is dumb enough to even consider Mike Davis. Nice try Coach but I see right through it. Looks like a bunch haven't though so pretty damn smart on your part.

With a 30 game schedule plus conference tourneys, 20 wins ain't squat.

Of the 32 NIT teams, 25 won 20 games, and of those 25, 2 won 27, 1 won 26, 1 won 25, 2 won 24, 1 won 23, 6 won 22, 6 won 21 and 6 won 20.

Better to check how many a team LOST to gauge the coach's ability.

Indiana basketball is shitloads greater than MSU basketball and I would argue that UAB basketball is greater than MSU Basketball over time. This would be a GOD awful hire!<div id="isChromeWebToolbarDiv" style="display:none"></div>
