Have big time kids consider us isn't huge. Having big time kids enroll and play football here is huge.

Too simplistic and idealistic.

Getting A large number of top 300 players to visit the campus, many on their own dime, is a huge step.

Previous staffs were afraid to be told no, so they didn't even try. So taking the step to to simply ask, then getting the visit to happen are all steps needed before you can convince them to enroll and play.

Fair enough - but out of our losses, which one appears to be the anomaly? Two thorough *** kickings vs a tight game? Probably more likely that Wisconsin didn't take us too seriously as they had recently shifted into the easy run of their schedule. Not too far fetched as the have completely dominated us in our short time in the B1G.
So Wiscy wasnt taking a 7-0 team too seriously????

Plenty of comments on this board, as well as national media, questioned whether we really deserved to be at that ranking and whether our winds were all that impressive. Similar to the respect level Iowa had last year. Most the players on their team just know Nebraska as that team they kick the snot out of every time they play, so yes, I feel like they may not have taken us overly seriously.

Show us the posts of people saying it. You've been pretty active lately so it shouldn't be difficult for you to find the posts.

What some have said, myself included, is looking at "top 25 right now" is a waste of time. I told you the other day, we could get 3 2* commitments right now and we're top 25. That does us no good.

This has been explained to you, by multiple posters, and I'll share the posts with you because coincidently you vanish from the threads when it's mentioned.
.

I'm right here. I work for a living and don't live on this board like others. The math others presented is dumb because it doesn't calculate all the teams currently behind us that will receive commitments in the next 6 weeks. Yeah, if no other schools received any commitments and we landed two 3 stars we'd move up inside the top 25..that wouldn't last long when schools behind us land 4 stars. We won't FINISH in the top 25 if we don't get Graham. But you'll reply back with some smart-*** post that makes you feel better about yourself... Can't wait. Bottom 2 poster on here. Where's HTO when you need him? Never thought I'd say that. At least he knew what he was talking about.

I'll bet you a 20 spot you are wrong. The problem is I think we land Graham so it would make the bet null and void... If we don't I got $20 say we land in the Top 25

Yep, you're the only guy that works around here. The math is simple, as of now, not as if others gain. NU can have 3 2*'s right this minute; you'd ***** & moan, either during your smoke break, lunch hour or once you punch the clock for the day, which puts the Huskers inside the top 25. That's what you're moaning about right now.

Nebraska's chance at a top 25 class isn't all in the hands of Graham's choice on Friday, which will melt down many members here.

I'm glad to be a bottom 2 poster, according to you.

If they didn't take us overly seriously, then their coaches need to be called to the carpet... 7-0, top ten team in their building for a night game... You won't convince me they didn't take us seriously... We just matched up well with them, in my opinion, much better than we did against OSU, and Iowa was just a mess all the way around. I felt like we would match up just fine with Iowa, but for whatever reason, that day was a wreck.

Again, just my opinion, but I feel like they didn't take a top ten undefeated team for a home night game lightly...

No way they took us lightly. Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa all play a similar physical brand of football. We showed up for 2 of those games.

Some math for you. If Nebraska added 3 star commits to match the total number of commits any team above them has there are 17 teams they would pass just by adding middle rated 3 stars. By comparison their is only 2 maybe 3 teams behind Nebraska with less recruits that could do the same and jump Nebraska

I can't disagree...I am having one hell of a time getting over the two blowouts - as my negativity demonstrates. I started to buy into Nebraska "once again" only to be kicked in the gut "once again". As you said at the beginning, "If they didn't take us overly seriously, then their coaches need to be called to the carpet...", I say the same for the Iowa game. No reason ever to be beat like that.

Likewise, I can't disagree with this. Whatever happened in that Iowa game was bad and the coaches didn't have the team ready it seems...

So I hear a lot of chatter about recruiting rankings and where we need to finish. If the general consensus is 25th to 15th, what is the difference of ten spots? 25th should edge out our divisional foes, and 15th wont be better than the top East teams. It would appear that we are in the same boat we usually are. Is that a crazy thought?

I suppose somebody might go do the math, I just eyeballed it. 15th is roughly 50% more 4* or better players than 25th, not a hard and fast rule though.

Strawman, cause everyone loves 'em. 25th team gets 6 4* or better. 15th gets 10 (because it makes the math easy). 50% attrition for both teams. 25th has 3 "elite" players survive, 15th has 5 survive. Over a 4-year cycle, the 25th team will field 12 elites, the 15th team will field 20 elites. Of course this is just a garbage strawman, as a team could have all hits, all misses, and any point between, but it illustrates the concept. A higher rating does not guarantee success, it increases the probability of success. Is a 5* player better than a walk-on? Only if both players live up to their respective hype.
