Final Four Coaching Successes

For all the hype going on about the quality of coaching in the Final Four, I was surprised to find that while these 4 coaches have combined for 26 FF's, they've only won 6 collectively.

Coach K - 12 FF's, 4 titles
Izzo - 7 FF's, 1 title
Cal - 4 FF's, 1 title
Ryan - 2 FF's, 0 titles

I think this shows how difficult it is to win even if you make the Final Four. And that the best team doesn't always win.

Confidently hopeful that our Cats win it all this weekend. Talent, Depth, Experience and Coaching should prevail.

Cal is 6 FF's, unless you want to buy-in to the rewrite history BS that the NCAA tries to sell. And it's 7 titles that they (the coaches you mention) have won, because 1 has to win this year.

Beyond that, yeah, it's really difficult to win games in the FF, and/or win a title. No one makes the FF on luck alone. There may very well be a luck element (see Mich St this year), but no matter what kind of breaks you get in terms of the draw, you have to come through in a big way. Every team in the FF is really, really good, so there no cheap victories.

Championships are hard to win. In the NCAA and NBA and any other sport. People that talk about Cal racking up three more championships in a four or five years are in a fantasy world.

Your numbers are somewhat misleading since you are including this year's final four. None of the above coaches have lost the title this year yet.

If the NCAA strips UNCheat of wins and titles, how will you react if UNCheat fans, players and coaches still continue to claim the victories and titles? If UNCheat is stripped of two titles, will you continue to claim UNCheat has 5 titles instead of three?

I, for one, will not count those titles. The NCAA giveth and the NCAA taketh away. Regardless of my opinion as to the fairness or rightness of that decision. The NCAA gets to decide the answer to the question: How many titles (or Final Fours, etc.) does each school have?
