FINAL: Graham 45 Virginia High 7 (Thur Oct 12)

Points isn’t always a great indicator of how good a team is. I think graham is better, but not 38 points better. Va high tried to play keep up on the scoreboard and their better strategy would’ve been to play keep away in my opinion and limit Graham’s possession. I think va high threw 3 picks and graham also had a kickoff return td. Pretty much everything went right for graham tonight
A) The points don't matter.
B) Graham really is that good and still working hard to get better.
I left at halftime to go to work but the game was mostly decided by then. VA High has some good players and they seem to be a good team, but from what I gather they are more of a "control the ball" type offense. The game was tied up 7-7 after VA High's QB made some really impressive plays to drive them down the field to score. On the kickoff they kicked it to Graham's Taymon Cooke who took it 94 yards for a td. Graham forced a punt the next possession and Cooke caught a deep pass for a touchdown. Graham added a field goal, and had another blocked, but VA High still had a chance until Cam Allen had a pick 6 to put the G-Men up 31-7 at the half, and all but killed VHS's spirit.
That's the longer version. The short version is Graham's defense is stout enough for force teams into some 3 & outs and once they do they have big play ability all over the field and they score QUICK. They put VA High in a situation to play catch up and they don't seem to be built for that. Cooke had another big game tonight. 7 catches - 115 yards and two touchdowns, a 95 yard KO return touchdown, and an INT on defense. There isn't a player in d2 SWVA that can run with Him and he keeps showing that with I think they said 13 touchdowns over the last 4 weeks.
I went to the game last night and my take is Graham is def a better team but also a bad coached Va High team. I had never seen Va High play but have always heard they have lots of talent but no coaching. That's exactly what I watched last night. I could post everything I observed but I honestly don't have two hours to type today.
you have Appo, then everybody else. Graham doesn't see that kind of speed in SW Va. Appo would win easily, & it wouldn't be pretty.
That one player will be the fastest on the field no matter if they play 11 games or 15 games this year. But it's not just him, Graham can match anyone in 2A's team speed.
Honest question - who has Appomattox seen that has a lot of team speed?
just pray you don't have to face Appo.
I'm sure Appomattox is the better team but I'd rather hear reasons why they are instead of you just using bad arguments to slight Graham.
But to address this, Graham doesn't play any teams in SWVA that can match their speed. They do, however, play Bluefield who is the #1 team in West Virginia and they can flat out fly.
I'm not so sure that Appo is is that much better than Graham. Graham has 4 guys that run in the 4.5 -4.6 40 range. Cooke's best official time is 4.37. The qb is very athletic and versatile. If you think Graham is a one man show, you are wrong. I would argue that Dante Vineyard is the best linebacker in all of 2A.
Graham doesn't operate that way. They play a physical style of football and play with a chip on their shoulder. I'm sure they would welcome the challenge. I'm sure the die hard Graham fans are pleased with how Graham's defense has gotten back to their stingy ways of old.just pray you don't have to face Appo.
I can validate that I don’t think you’ll see much more speed and agility than what Collier brings. If you get behind him on a play, you’re in trouble
19gh i went up to graham and saw them play richlands last year and they were surpose to be all that with speed , if they are like that at all then your vision of speed is not even close !! Appo maybe faster than the two previous season and we know how those turned out!! Po1 A chip on your shoulder does know good,and the raiders we'll get phsycal with anyone ! Hope we get to see that if y'all dont fold up like usual!!
