The Tigers had all of the off season to get jacked up for this one after the Steelmen took them down 20-9 last season in week 9...West will host neighboring Plainfield South next Friday while the Steelmen look to get their first win of the season against another school they beat last season, the Plainfield Central Wildcats @ Central....

Yes indeed. Joliet West was so jacked up for this game they exploded to a halftime lead of 2-0.

Split down the middle.Happy for the Westmen but sad for the Steelmen
Yeah...last season it was neat to see Central get the W over West...gosh knows how many years it had been since that happened prior to the '94 merger...going back to the Illini 8 days there was that period of time in the mid to late 60s when Central, West, and East were fairly strong programs. I believe in '67, '68, and '69 each won an I-8 title...that of course was prior to Joliet Catholic joining the conference....

Come on District 204! Play the game on a Friday night!
I don’t see it but was told because of dangerous conditions that it wasn’t going to happen.I’ve seen worse areas play football at night.I’ve train watched in Joliet in the wee hours of the morning by Central.Starting a game at 6 there should be no issue.West is in a safe, nice area is it not? Or has that gone to hell? The guy at West who told me years ago about not playing night football said police could spot a gun easier in the day.Sad

Some large apartment complexes near the campus along Larkin perhaps contributes to both perceptions and reality..about 20 years ago I had a job in Joliet and was told by coworkers don't move to those when I was considering moving closer to work.

There is a sketchy apt complex near west, but overall the neighborhood around west is fine. I live approx 6 blocks from JT West and I consider my neighborhood to be quite nice.

Oswego played a Friday night game this year (but no soph game). Last year we had to do the Saturday morning game.

And District 204 is Naperville (WV, NV, MV)

The area surrounding JT West is indeed nice.
The idiots who show up and choose to act up when the streetlights go on are the real issue they face/have faced.
For whatever reason, these clowns hold it together (or do not attend games) during daylight hours.
It diminishes the High School experience of so many others, and that is a real shame.
I applaud the School District leaders for being proactive and avoiding potential mayhem.

In Joliet, they also have two school districts- one for the high schools and one for the elementary/ middle schools. West apparently has a solid defense but has struggled on offense this year.

After the OHS game everybody has started stacking the line to stop Howlund and unfortunately it's working.

I loved going to see games @ East years ago.Fun times & safe.Same with West & games at Memorial.Years ago in 92 I came back to visit East.Took pics. Was going to walk back to the train station.Seen a young man who should have been in school carrying a stereo system wires & all in his hand down Mills.A young, sweet black young lady freaked out.She asked where I was going & that she was going to drive me to the train station after I told her.She said she was getting out that is was dangerous.I was sad & shocked. She went to Lockport & she said that area where East was was not nice but remembered it was back in the day.
