One thing is for sure, Louisa travels well.
I wish I could go to this game but can't. Glass has a good student section as well.
I would love to as well but I have to be stuck online at my work computer until 4:30. And by the time I would leave, I would be arriving late.

Glass scores on 80+ yard drive after Louisa missed a short FG. Score is now 14-7 late 2nd. My observations early...
Louisa employs a 3-4 cover 0 defense 60-70% of the season, they'll occasionally alter alignment according to an offensive scheme they play. Tonight they came out in more of a 4-2-5 cover 1 look with OLB Jordan Smith playing that hybrid field side slot corner/safety vs spread or trips. This allows them to still play man with 1 high free safety. The personel is the same as their base 3-4. I think that change up really caught Glass offense off guard early. This last drive they scored on they hit a couple nice passes and the TD was a 50/50 fade that looked like both players had it, ref gave it to the offense. Louisa offense was running down Glass throat early but the Glass defense has started to settle in a bit. I wouldn't be surprised to see this one go down to the wire. I'd say Louisa is winning in the trenches thus far but with 52 and 97 going both ways, will be interesting to see if they wear down late.
Now they've got Smith back at CB man'd up on Glass best WR #14. Louisa just hit a long pass to Dean to get inside the Glass 30 as the 2nd qrtr winds down, still 14-7
Glass has settled in, but Louisa is playing well up front. Louisa will be worn out in the 4th quarter.

Said awhile ago when it seemed obvious that Louisa was going to be in that 4/5 game that they would not be fun for whomever drew them as an opponent.

Very impressed with Louisa defensive scheme tonight. At halftime they switched to a 3-2-6 cover 2 man vs any 2x2, 3x1 and Glass couldn't pass consistently. Two high safeties at 15-17 yards. the deep ball that White had been killing people with was taken away. Glass inability to run consistently out of gun sets hurt them. They had more success under center power running, just couldn't sustain it either way. They are young, I was very impressed wtih their young DL #66, great motor and was clapping his guys up all game even when it was out of reach. He's going to be a player. Woody, Johnson and co will have them right back next season. Could likely see a rematch next playoffs as Louisa loses some talent but 97, 52 and 7 are all back so those three alone will put them in the playoffs.
The district was very much improved this year compared to recent seasons. Louisa not as strong on perimeter as past 3-4 years but just as good up front and Spellman(97) might be the best DL they've had during this run. Dean at ILB is a smaller version of Brandon Smith, great instincts and sideline to sideline speed. Western Albemarle when healthy had a very sound defense that would keep them in a game with anybody. Still sound up front on both sides but losing their QB forced them to put their top WR at QB so they really lose their top QB and top WR in a sense, has very much hurt their offense. Will be interesting to see if they can overcome it to challenge Salem/Louisa/GW. People see Albemarles early season loss to PH and think they aren't good. They are young and that game was within a score early 4th before PH scored twice in the 4th. Their soph QB has improved dramatically. They matched Louisa in the trenches for much of their game and outplayed them on the perimeter. Albemarle next year should be the best team they've had my 9 years coaching in this area. They got a really tough draw with Riverbend, I'm hoping B.I. and those boys can pull the upset. I like GW over Orange but if they can't contain Poirier, Orange could pull an upset. The Orange defense ability to bend rather than break and the Orange interior OL vs GW stud DT will decide it.
Unfortunately 66 is a senior. It was his first game back after being out 2 games with a concussion.
Glass has done that for years. When there’s a size disadvantage, that’s what you do.Speaking of cutting, look at the defensive line.
@lyhsports Patrick Henry-Ashland was much smaller than Louisa in 2019 and dominated our offensive line with pure scrappiness and discipline. They out-Louisa'd Louisa. Frankly the cutting is dangerous, and I'm glad our O line has stayed fairly healthy from dealing with it every year.
Patrick Henry Ashland was also in the State semis. Sophomores and a freshman sprinkled with a senior and Junior on that line. They’ll get better. Louisa showed us we still got work to do on the lines.
@lyhsports yeah PH was just as young as you at those positions and made the semis. They were very well coached and prepared for us, even though they hadn't played us in decades.
@MaroonDude decent every year, nothing special. They beat Albemarle 35-0 in the district championship game.
