I've seen teams lose to their AAA team in exhibitions- it's really not all that uncommon, and I saw yesterday where a couple of MLB teams lost to AA teams- I believe it was the Astros and Padres. The MLB teams are just simply trying to get ready for the season, and there may be one or two guys still trying to make the team that really shouldn't be on the roster, and they're about to get sent down. The minor league team uses it as a way to try to impress the MLB manager by playing well so that they can maybe get called up down the road.
Also, I know that MSU and Ole Miss used to routinely beat the Jackson Mets. I think we're undefeated against them, in fact.
Now, all that said, a community college is a little bit of a different breed. And Florida JUCO's are better in baseball in general than Mississippi. But still. I will say this- they were laughing about it on MLB Network. So, and they didn't say anything about the other teams losing to AA teams, so I still would have to say it's pretty shameful.
