Not in the eyes of bible thumpers. We had to leave our church of 23 years recently because of that exact reason of it being only one way to think and if you are in conflict, you are a second tier citizen. Shameful.
I heard that there were several unintended (presumably) consequences of the new law with how it was written. basically, it took away the power of local governments to adjust the local minimum wage for one. It also took away any statutes relating to wrongful termination of employment at the state level. I haven't looked into it much, but I did hear this from an attorney who works in employment law in NC. I'm not sure if that makes the information more or less reliable.
I don't know much about the law, but I was responding more to the comment about NC going to feel the economic burn over it.
This idea that some people have that they are going to boycott and "punish" these places is a little crazy. Its not like most of those folks were going to NC before.
The NFL threatened no more Super Bowls in the state of Georgia, the NBA threatened no more playoffs, Disney threatened to take their business elsewhere, AMC threatened to quit filming in the state and NBC Comcast was considering a move of their headquarters. "Boycotting" by individuals probably wouldn't have been noticed, but when you have the number of big companies and industries changing their business practices, I'm sure the impact would have been felt. I think it's a trend of the future. A lot of the big companies and industries are going to stand up against discrimination.
As they should, but restraint needs to be shown. Has the potential to get out of control and snap the other direction as well.

Regardless of any spats among us, I hope we can all agree **** shows with unstable individuals need to end. I committed to never responding o that one individual and I believe others are also doing the same. I hope WTE does the same.
Hey BRU, I don't think we have any issues with one another personally; but man, please allow me to respectfully suggest you not allow this Board to affect you as negatively as it sometimes appears.
There are a few individuals around here who admittedly give me heartburn.....as with DD, the IGNORE feature indeed works very effectively for me in many of those cases......but I simply deal with most of them not buried on my leper list by exercising my individual ability to ignore their message. After all, arguing a point around here......once the juices really begin flowing......redefines the phrase "exercise in futility".
I'm thinking taking a similar "ignore it" perspective might be helpful for you in those times when you're crossed by those who (for whatever reason) find themselves violently opposed to you. Or else, give the global IGNORE feature a workout; it really does help with clearing out the roaches.
For the record, I'll keep my comments to myself in the future if they're unwelcome..... but I wanted to give this suggestion the ol' college try.
Is what me? Why would you want to introduce me into this disagreement? Bru blackballed me with his followers. That has been rather pleasant ever since. It is nice and quiet and enjoyable. If it is not asking too much, may I continue to be excused from whatever gives some on the board pleasure?
