People get confused about what free speech actually means. It doesn’t give you freedom from consequences.
Both sides are hypocritical on this -
Dixie Chicks insult Bush, hilarity ensues - left apopleptic.
Now - do something stupid on Twitter twelve years ago, hilarity ensues - right apopleptic.
The "Twitter problem" is that it has the reputation of becoming/being an echo chamber with left-leaning double standards. IDGAF about Trump, but Putin, ISIS, et al are still active on Twitter. Hell, they banned The Babylon Bee for tweeting a joke.
I understand consequences. I also believe that a VERY SMALL FRACTION of the population is using their influence in a very heavy handed manner.
I also think that Musk buying Twitter is awesome and hilarious. If he simply has the rules evenly enforced that's a step in the right direction.
