Who is our closer in recruting right now? I’m honestly asking cause I don’t see one. I’m not sure this staff takes recruiting top talent that serious. I think they think they can short cut it by recruiting under valued kids only. With a sprinkle here and there

I wonder how he is on the recruiting front, it's been a long time since we've had a dynamic coach who player gravitate towards.
It would be nice to have an established P4 d-line coach/recruiter but frankly I can’t see a guy like that hitching his wagon to Nebraska unless we step this deal up a notch record wise. Prospective hires have to look at our schedule next year and say fuuuuudge. No way they win 8.

The Indiana team will end up having a lot of NFL production, just because kids are "poorly rated" doesn't mean they aren't really good football players. Obviously for profit ratings systems are taking a major hit in talent and production over the years...247 and rivals are nowhere near the quality product they used to be, they do not have the staff and outreach they used to have and are basically relying solely on film and offers. Both are dubious if you aren't skilled at watching film and don't have the experience, AND high school recruiting has been seriously minimized and has moved so early in the players development that it is impossible to measure a high school talent properly. At the NIL level it is equally difficult. A guy like Fernando Mendoza was pretty average at California, a very specific system qb who was very skilled at the zone/read offense but he lacks a lot of natural talent that would allow him to carry a below average team to wins. Indiana was looking for a very specific qb, they plugged him in and at times he looked like a real talent. But guys like Sarratt are absolutely NFL talents who will play for a long, their offensive line is full of studs and is their dominant feature. Their defense is physical and coached by a staff that has been together forever. I know the pre-nil, transfer portal rating systems were pretty accurate, that just isn't the case anymore. They are a shell of their former selves.

He might want to also try some decaf. The guy sure throws a lot of bologna at the board to see what sticks.
I like him. Only because I know if I shout about a topic enough on here, he'll lift those concepts directly into a video. It's like we're on TV mah.

Equivalent to public broadcasting at 4 in the morning..but still TV.

What I like is the team is still extremely athletic even if they may not be rated highly. They may not be the biggest or the fastest guys on any individual metric, but IU has a lot of guys with good size and yet are lean enough to have good speed as well. And that allows their defense to play fast and aggressive. All this to say Cignetti actually knows what he's doing in talent evaluation, recruiting, and player development.

Underwhelming, but hopefully he comes in and kills it and makes me feel silly for thinking he was a "meh" hire.

If this is a meh hire, what was taking Pelini away from his LB gig with GB to be NU's D coordinator?

He broke it down. Physicality and hip flexibility. That is what he looks for. I think he also just got lucky culturally, seems they have a lot of down to earth good dudes who aren't doing a tik tok every time the ball comes near them, or just yearning to enter the portal for more money. Oregon was the epitomy of what is wrong with the sport...a big single donor, overpaying for talent, creating a culture of "get your bag", and then losing depth and talent at the most important time because guys would rather get a little more money than play for a national title. Oregon was down 30 and they still had guys celebrating like it was a close game, I don't think kids even play to win anymore, it is fine, they are entertainers, circus freaks, wwe wrestlers, but it would be nice if competition was feigned.

A really good hire.
Now fast forward to Rhule naming Joe Felini, LB coach for the Packers, DC instead of Aurich. Hell, elements of the normie fanbase would be opening a vein at that news. Aurich now has two defensive coaches in Manning and Brown that he has already worked with. Especially Manning knows what he wants to do and how to get it done.

You mean Po Belini. I think the fan base would be ok with him back as DC.

Yeah I can’t believe fans subscribed to his podcast the guy needs to stop meddling with recruiting and get a real job

It's pure comedy for me. Not gonna lie at one time I actually thought he knew what he was talking about. Now it's just a case of a guy flooding the algorithm with nonsense. I give him credit for being persistent and his work ethic but info wise he's comical. I still remember the Elijah Robinson is a fone deal declaration from him lol. I just laugh now...

Most of them are already developed. They are freaking 23 yrs old.

Not the type you want to draft.

They are beating people with grown men it's not that Impressive just smart asf

He might be a tool but the guy likely makes 60k/year on a hobby. Should have a real job but if not its a good living from mom's basement. Good for him for doing something he loves and monetizing it.

Oregon was only slightly younger, everybody has old dudes, everybody uses the portal...Oregon had a lot more 4 and 5 stars though.

As a Youtube content creator myself, $60k is probably optimistic unless he has some sponsors I'm not aware of.

I'm in a different realm (knives and gear), and have about 1/10th the following, and I may make $125-$150 on ad revenue monthly. And I'm in a fairly high rate-per-view category since I do reviews of products meaning my audience tends to be motivated buyers and advertisers pay more for that.

He does have Venmo and CashApp links and channel memberships though, so maybe that would push him higher.

If I had to guess, I'd think maybe $40k optimistically? And, gotta remember if he's doing his taxes properly 30% or so of that will come out since it's self employed work.

That being said, though, like you said more power to him for making money doing something he loves.

I don’t know much about Brown, butI am extremely familiar with Jason Eck, who came from South Dakota St. along with Brown and Aurich. Eck is an absolute stud coach and has the chance to be the next “small school” coach who makes a splash at the P4 level. What Eck did at Idaho and now New Mexico took no time at all. It was immediate success (And immediate fall off once he left Idaho).

Just saying Brown comes from good stock. I hope it translates.

Even at 30k free money and growing based on followers for BSing about Husker Football.... not a bad gig if you can get it.
I follow nobody but do watch occasionally. What is the name of your channel? Ill give it a look.
