Finally had my first experience at Grumpy's today for lunch...

That place is the absolute tits! It easily became my new favorite eating location. I thought it was just going to be a newer Petty's clone (absolutely nothing wrong with that) but I was completely mistaken. It has great food, beer, patio courtyard area, and a giant projection TV. I plan on going there for every TV sporting event from now on.

The food was all good. The pulled pork was even good in and of itself. But pulled pork with ****** sauce is just not good.

What's with the vinegary-mustard based stuff? This ain't South Carolina. They needs a sauce that is more like Dooey - something tomato-based with a sweet flavor to it.

i had the shrimp and catfish platter which was very good. I didn't have high expectations for the place and I stunned at the place as a whole. It will definitely be my place of choice for spring/summer afternoon eating and drinking.

it is definitely one of the better eatery's in Starkville. I have only been there a couple of times and enjoyed a good hamburger and good service along with a big screen tv to watch football. I don't have a specific favorite locale in Starkville to eat and watch sports but you can't go wrong with Grumpy's.

If the money is available then the Veranda and Restaurant Tyler are easily my favorite with Old Venice in 3rd.
But for sporting events I've had equally good times at Grumpy's, State Theatre, Mugshots, and Barristers. State Theatre gets a bonus for giving out free pitchers because of the technical difficulties with their projector during one game I watched up there.

and I personally like their BBQ too. I'm not a pro but I think they are a memphis-style bbq, which is the vinegar base...could be wrong, who knows. I definitely prefer Grumpy's to the 3 Little Pigs bbq, though. Just have not been impressed with that place at all, which is disappointing since it's right around the corner from my house.
