Finally, I've figured why so many are down on the Mountaineers and Big 12

The fact that they let that *** clown of a president inside our state line is shameful. That was a slap in the face of the entire state. Does everything he can do to shut down the best paying industry the state has, then comes down here with reporters and news cameras and makes us look like we are the epicenter for pills and heroin abuse. I'm like the kid from the movie "Matewan", ......"Mister we've had about all the help we can stand!"

Take your garbage spewing somewhere else. It's attitudes like this that give this state an embarrassing reputation.

Come out to the coalfields and talk to the 10k+ coal miners who have lost their jobs since he took office you'll find that mans sentiments you quoted are not garbage. The county I grew up in, Boone, has lost over 2k coal mining jobs. Boone has went from the county with the highest median & average household income in the state or
Darn close to not even in the top 2/3 of the 55 counties. Btw in 2008 Boone was 1 of 2 counties out of 55 to vote for that POTUS.

Amazing how people losing their livelihoods and sadly in some cases their homes will upset them when being lectured to about the cause of the problems in their own communities.

So I guess after spending in many 20 years or more in an occupation these miners are supposed to just walk away. Brilliant idea. Tell me who will buy their homes so they can relocate to more fertile economic areas.

If you don't know, don't feel bad. No one else can sell their houses either.

Btw I'm done on this. I hate all political talk. I just have family friends and my childhood community that is severely suffering, so I threw my $0.02 from observation in.

They deserve to suffer if they made the choice not to further their education and/or job skills. ....and it was a choice.

Lucky for them welfare is considered 'making a living' too... ...so all is not lost.

Only a dolt would tie his income and family welfare to coal (today).

Wow. Your ignorance is astounding. I guess you don't realize we'll be producing a nearly a billion tons of coal in the US this year. Consumption of coal will increase significantly in the future, mainly due to demand in Asia, including India.

CO2 emissions are trending down slightly in the US, but in the rest of the world, they are trending up significantly. If you think China and India will cut their coal consumption because of global warming, you're wrong.

The rest of the world has talked the US into cutting CO2 emissions while they do nothing but fudge their numbers. Europe burns a massive amount of wood for power generation, but doesn't include those numbers in their reported emissions. An omission of emissions, so to speak.

Deserve to suffer? You are most definitely an idiot? The working class deserve to suffer because they have a job that just four years ago was fine but due to the current political climate is deemed unnecessary? Why should anyone deserve to suffer for that? As for furthering your education, son I went to college. Graduated with honors. Second in my class. And for the last 14 years I've made between $65,000-$125,00. When you get your liberal arts or business degree and earn that come talk to me. Snot nose punks like yourself think because you go to a state university you're somehow better than others. Don't forget where you come from. Somewhere along the line someone in your family worked their *** off to allow you to look down that snotty nose at the working class. The difference between you and I is people of my education have successfully ran businesses for decades. I'm guessing you couldn't hold my jock strap while I do my job.

Coal burning is destroying the environment. The AIR. We all breath it. It sucks that WV jobs are lost because they are attached to coal, but man has to continue living on the planet indefinitely and things must be done so that there is an environment for man and plants and animals to live in. There are systems in place from the federal government and the state to learn new skills to transition to new means of supporting yourself and your family.

The president isn't a clown or bad for doing what he can to stop the destruction of the environment or stop destructive drug abuse.

Yeah and we've only had five years to get this environment saved since 1970. For a college educated person you're not real bright. Scientists of all kinds agree that they can track 13 different ice ages in the history of earth. By the very definition of ice age number two, ice age number one had to end. The earths warming and cooling is cyclical. Now if you wanna say air quality that we breath I'd agree with you there. The so called warming of the planet is a farce. The numbers the government use to prove it are taken from ships that heat the very water they measure with massive Diesel engines that power them. When measurements are used from satellites (which is much more accurate) the planet has actually cooled 7/10 of one degree over the last decade. Here's another news flash your professors won't tell you, the production of electric cars, wind mills, solar panels, lithium ion batteries and so forth cause way more damage to the environment during their production than coal mining. Here's one we have no control over.... One volcanic explosion puts more CO2 into the atmosphere than humans have since the beginning of time. How about cows farting? Scientists now rank that in the top ten causes of global warming! Do we need to exterminate cows. Or just tell
People who eat cows that they deserve to suffer? Democrats have used this environmental scare tactic to push what they want onto the American public. The whole world went to Hell during WWII. God fearing red blooded Americans picked up rifles and went to fight. That left the dope smoking hippies take over this country and its went to hell ever since. Obama is an idiot. Plain and simple.
Tell me how great he is when you take eight years and almost $100,000 to get that degree and end up at Pizza Hut as a manager. Then you'll vote for the president who promises to get rid of student loans if elected.

I'm not real bright but you are ignoring the vast majority of scientists around the world who have stated emphatically and unquestionably that global warming IS being rapidly increased by man because of emissions from things such as coal. You are throwing out all of the evidence and pushing the narrow argument from politically paid "scientists" hired by companies doing the polluting in the first place.

Yes, its unfortunate, but things must change. The world can't be destroyed for the future because a few people don't want to accept the truth and move on to a less destructive way of life. And no, claiming other countries are polluting doesn't make it ok--most of that is just b.s. from nutjobs like Rush Limbaugh anyway. Scientists from around the world are attempting to dispel the lies about global warming and do what they can to slow it which means stopping the massive emissions that man is putting into the atmosphere and yes, that something besides burning coal is going to be necessary. You see some people actually care about the bigger picture and not just their own selfish interests. Everyone lives on the planet and suffers from the effects of global warming--many are expected to DIE from it and many more suffer greatly. Things must change. Making excuses and pretending it isn't real so you can bash the president of the United States or keep coal jobs that aren't going to be in the future doesn't make sense and certainly isn't the sign of any education.

Wake up. Dwelling on the past and pointing fingers doesn't help the state; at some point miners have to accept reality and adapt like the rest of us. You control your future. Stop blaming progesss.

Please don't confuse the two.

The Obama administration has been no friend to coal. We all know that.

But in many ways WV actually IS the epicenter for pills and heroin abuse. It just is ..... at, or very near, the top of adult prescription med use (has been for years) and at the the top of per capita overdose deaths.

And I think the data shows the prescription drug use was up there before coal was being squeezed as bad as it is now. The national trend is that people who were prescribed painkillers by their doctors have turned to cheaper widely available heroin. That is what has happened in WV. It's a national problem. But it's a bigger problem in WV than anywhere else.

I'm not seeing progression and the master of air raids can not land a difference maker at QB. Imagine how good this team would be if it had someone like Bulger or White at QB.
