I think that we need to recruit a junior college kicker. We cannot keep letting these terrible kickers walk onto the field and take their scholarship for granted.
Look back at the last 5 kickers.
Horrible ones: Carlson, Andrews, and John "the helicopter kicker" Marlin - all were high school studs, that were supposed to be the best ever and just couldnt handle it.
Great Ones : Westerfield and Smith - Both Junior College guys that took the long road and grew up and knew what it meant to be at this level. The best 2 State has ever seen. Minus the opportunities, Smith is the best (statistically)of all time, and arguably just the best period. Thats another argument. However, It just proves the point that those 2 guys were hungry to be here and play at a very high level. Tops in the SEC instead of the Bottom. Also JWS products.
Get out and find a kicker in JUCO right now. And Maybe if someone knows Smith or Westerfield, call them and see if they will come back and sort through our train wreck, and coach these kids.
