He wanted to do an interview with Trump during his first term. Said ESPN killed it because "we’re not allowed to mix politics with football." Get that? ESPN...basically ESPCNN...said Finebaum couldn't mix politics with football. Sometimes all you can do is laugh.

Good chance he's going to end up being a Senator, good for him. May he be a good one.

ESPN=hypocrites. They love zooming in on woke messages on NBA courts and NFL fields. And celebrating rainbow month in the WNBA.

What I found amusing was how Herbstreit made public comments about how he felt boys had no business in girls sports. No reprimand. But when Sam Ponder says it. Automatic termination.

There really shouldn't be much partisan divide here. It's not a left or right issue to argue about. Everyone would have to agree that ESPN has injected PLENTY of politics into what they do. They have done so very openly. Can't really debate it. So to say Finebaum couldn't interview Trump b/c they didn't want to mingle politics with sports is simply laughable.

Oh, I totally agree with you. It's blatant. It's obvious. It's 100% hypocritical. So much so that it's absurd....

BUT.....

Bottom line: One side thinks logically, and accepts reality. One side does everything in their power to shift reality, deflect, re-write history, etc....
So your comment about "Can't really debate it." ---- Give it a minute....they'll be along shortly.

Removing all politics of all stripes from sports-related outlets would certainly work no hardship on me.

He likely would have been fired if he had expressed the same opinions a couple of years ago. ESPN and all of the MSM are so biased it`s pathetic. Anyone who can`t see that has blue blinders on. I read where Kristen Chenowith(? sp. - don`t really know her - had fans that were "outraged" because she expressed basically compassion for Charlie Kirk and his family and supporters. She has said she is Christian but also supports LGBTQ etc. So if you don`t have compassion for a man who was murdered in cold blood because of his religious and traditional beliefs then you basically are condoning what happened. So then the same people who screamed at the "free speech" of Jimmy Kimmel being violated by a brief suspension are probably the same people who either had no compassion after Charlie Kirk was killed to shut down his free speech. Some are probably the same people who condoned the cold blooded murder of the UNH executive. They seem to get outraged only when some criminal is locked up or suffers a bad fate. It`s sad that there are so many twisted - or evil - minds out there. There used to be no gray area about killing innocent people because of their beliefs, nor should there be - but apparently we are not the people, as a country, we used to be.

It wouldn't have been a friendly interview. I can remember Paul not thinking to highly of Trump.

She's not only an actress, but much of her eminence stems from her work on Broadway. That probably explains her religious "ambivalence".

She was in the movie "Bewitched", directed by the late great Nora Ephron.

At that time, circa late 2019, he was highly critical of Trump, but I think, based on what he said then, that it would have been a neutral interview about sports.

Jump to 2020 and to the present, Finebaum has flipped and is now highly supportive of Trump. ESPN shutting down that interview appears to be the starting point of his change of mind. He described himself as "devastated" by the decision, calling it a "turning point" in his career. That, and other events to date have moved him, so much so he is thinking about leaving ESPN to run for U.S. Senate.

I say kudos to him.

Of corse he is going to say that now since he is running and wanting to win in the state of Alabama. He's not completely stupid!

I’m not a Finebaum fan and certainly don’t like Trump but if he wants to interview the president then he should be able to do it.
Frankly I’m glad Finebaum is leaving SEC Network as I really don’t like his show. Whenever I watch or listen to sports call-in shows I can feel my IQ dropping.

All evidence is that he is sincere. He talks about the assassination of Charlie Kirk moving him, etc...

How can that be done? Everything human has political undertones.
And overtones. But sports boards can be about the sports themselves and those who participate in them and manage them as to performance, plus nothing else. It can be done. It's a matter of proprietary purposefulness.

But it doesn't have to. There's nothing about sports that necessitates an infusion of politics. Just b/c people feel compelled to be political doesn't mean they have to be.

I'm as far right wing a Trumper as you can get, and generally very outspoken about it. Not a single person I work with has a clue about my political leanings. I just don't get into politics at work. It's very easy to do.
