Fire Mitch Barnhart

Is this finally enough to remove him from that seat.

Mitch has done enough to hurt our major sports teams. This is a vocal portion of the fanbase. Just want to see how many support this guy. Votes will be displayed publicly. If you want to keep the guy, explain it.

Bump this until he’s out.

Easy choice. He should have been fired in my mind the moment he mentioned any sport mattering compared to Uk basketball. It is and always will be what our calling card is in sports.
No other AD would have survived hiring Gillispie to a blue blood and following that up with Joker Phillips. He’s been a garbage AD since he got here and tried to keep and retain Tubny smith.

If he hired twenty Joker Phillips and was winning national titles in basketball, so that I don’t have to die with UCLA having the most titles, I’d have agreed to it in a heartbeat. What decides if he’s a good AD to me is: how are we doing in basketball? Are we #1? No —- then you aren’t doing a good job as AD. Simple as that.

BOT and the president should let him ‘retire’ immediately. New direction and leadership is needed.
And get his ridiculous $1.6mil golden parachute on the way out? No way, he doesn’t deserve it.

Always bad when the guy who thinks he is the smartest person in the room is actually an idiot. Every contract he’s signed in the past 5 years give me no reason to think otherwise!

He should have been fired 5 different times. It’s unbelievable he’s still here.
I thought for sure he’d be fired in 2007. I was actually waiting on it after the Gillispie story broke. This is Kentucky and this AD has survived the worst moves in program history. It’s then I realized he’s not here to win, he’s here to be a hatchet man for establishment hacks who want to be landlords.

I’m thinking we have the same problem UL had. These UK executives have been making each other rich and stealing money. The contracts with JMI for buddies have probably been going on for a long time.
Fire them all. Investigate and prosecute if needed.

Agree, but wouldn't that be a reflection of those who didn't replace him?

Tunny won a national championship. Even though Donovan was who the players wanted and was the right call to make, he did come in and do well with Pitino’s players. So they’re not the ones that retained Tubby when the wheels were falling off. That was all Mitch.

AD’s can’t be perfect but he’s been pitiful.

Not sure if you meant to, but you marked to retain Mitch Barnhart. Have a hard time believing you want to keep that guy after this crap storm he’s created. Mistake?

Asinine contracts
Swim scandle
JMI debacle (25 years!)
Awful hires (yes he had a few good ones but that doesn't erase the awful ones)
Lazy coaching searches

He absolutely needs to go. His time is past and he's ruining the bell cow program.

Imagine him making the Gillispie type hire at LSU football, or Alabama football etc. it’s amazing to me to this day he survived that. The blue blood of the conference was allowed to hire a deranged alcoholic without a background check who was basically assaulting players and skipping important UK events because he’s “ not an ambassador” of UK and Mitch was allowed to not only keep his job but also stand in the way of the Calipari hire.

Is this real life?

Wasn’t there an issue with the cheerleaders and coaches on the lake also?

Hired BCG in the basement of his house and he only signed a Memorandium of Understanding, the best I recall.

$1.6 M is chump change compared to the damage Barnhart has done to UK athletics.

I personally can't count Cal as a good hire for "him". It sounds like it was others within the program who landed Cal, and truthfully, it all happened at the right time with us firing BCG and Cal being in hot water of Rose's SAT scores (how silly to think about now)...

This is the equivalent of Mitch basically walking into a casino and sitting at the slot machine that was going to give the jackpot to the next person who pulled the lever. And actually in this hypothetical, he didn't even pick the RIGHT slot machine, he was guided to it by others. I can't give him any credit for that, he just lucked out.

This. Does Calipari seem like a Mitch hire to anyone? No of course not. He hired him cuz he had to. If it was up to Barney he'd have hired Dipsh*t McGhee. Guy is an imbecile. An absolute clown. And that's coming from me...

Yes Mitch had nothing to do with Calipari. Mitch actually said, and this did supposedly happen, that if we hire calipari he’s not responsible for it when it goes south. Apparently He wanted nothing to do with it and thought it would ruin the universities reputation. He apparently did not hire Calipari. Mike Pratt had the Rupp era guys call and add pressure to the BOT who are the ones that demanded the hire. Pat Riley had a lot to do with it.

My uncle was very good friends with Mike Matt so….

And that’s why cal wouldn’t work through him and Peevy was in charge of basketball from the AD’s office. Think about that. How incredible the 90’s were for UK. Greatest years of my life in Lexington. And this guy was handed that and did all of this!

I used to just be pissed at Mitch for the way he operated

now though - in just 3 weeks time, he has cost the university $37m by firing a coach AND it comes out that he is either incompetent or corrupt in regards to our NIL process.

Its a gots to go situation....now

but my guess is he has already told the power in charge, he's walking away in May and they are going to let it play out.

who isn't going to get the job it the associate AD married to the JMI executive, People will revolt.

Is that the same associate or assistant AD who recommended hiring Pope initially? And who I believe has some Mormon or BYU connections? The name escapes me.

Hell no they’re not. And they better not hire his understudy Mark Hill whos Mitch’s little understudy. And you better believe Mitch is going to want his access to remain and have his guy in there. Mitch stayed a long time that doesn’t mean he’s done good enough to call his own shot. He’s had many issues happen that should have resulted in his firing.

The press conference where the president made half of it about Mitch while the camera showed Mitch staring into space frozen told the story. He’s done. But that’s not good enough. He needs to be fired.
