I agree, and I should have qualified my answer. I didn't follow our basketball as early as I did football, so the first basketball coach I remember is Bob Boyd in the early 80's.

Since I became a fan as a young child I started my fandom grew as I did and thus developed incrementally begining with football, adding basketball later and then baseball after that. Not only that, since it was a childhood thing its hard to pinpoint specific dates but I will give it a whirl. The three coaches at the time when I definitively remember being a fan of any sort were Shira, Davis, and Gregory. The coach of each sport when I recall starting to follow said sport were Shira, Greene, and Polk. If you add WBB its Shaefer.

With that said, I have never rooted for any other program in any sport other than MSU and I am for MSU in whatever we participate in although there are a number of sports that I have never followed and could tell you very little about.

In each of the three major sports, who was the head coach when you first came on as a fan at State?

You can add women's basketball if you are so inclined.

Showing my age, but Wade Walker, Babe McCarthy, and Paul Gregory.

Football: Jackie
Basketball: Richard, in his last season....since I was 4 at the time I wasn't told why he resigned before 98 season for a few years
Baseball: Polk 1, also in his last season

Old timer here. Paul Davis football, Babe McCarthy basketball, and Paul Gregory baseball. Attended my first State football game in 1961.

Tyler, Greene, & Polk - I started following football in 72-73 but did not really start following basketball & baseball until 76-77.
