that's 9 out of 10 games where they have played good enough for us to win if not great. Just a stellar performance.

I haven't read the board so here are my thoughts:

It would have taken a perfect game to beat Alabama and we didn't get it. It's as simple as that. There was some questionable coaching with Russell and Favre (somewhat) driving us down the field and we get to the 22 and put in Relf? I just didn't get it. Why take out Russell at that point? He was moving the ball.

Then, Cameron Lawrence gets the INT and we put in Russell. I'm not that upset about this after finding out that Relf got a concussion. I am hoping it occurred before this series b/c it makes no sense not to bring in Relf at that point.

I loved Mullen's idea with Favre. Liked that he was trying to mix things up but sometimes I think he "overthinks" which is what I alluded to in the above paragraphs.

Besides that - we didn't get hurt by our mistake (Swendenburg punt drop) and Bama didn't get hurt by theirs. But that game would have been a lot more interesting at 17-10 or 17-13. You also have to catch good passes....Marcus Green. That one from Favre in the 4th hit him in the stomach. But whatever. It was a solid performance by State and I think we have a shot next week.

Regardless though, we still got Ole Miss to get bowl eligible. They are MSU 2003 all over. I knew once they got a loss out of these last 2 (never expected them to lose both) - they would fold. And that is what happened.

people post stupid **** during and right after the game. They will usually back off their ridiculousness by Monday.

Overall, I was pretty happy with our overall play. Offense was not great, but we were playing #2 defense in the nation. Our defense kept the game interesting. Very pleased with D, we just need to score points. And by the way Mullen hates timeouts.

you are down two possessions. You have a chinaman's chance to still win the game. It's a long shot but how can you expect your players to play the full 60 min when you don't coach the full 60.

Except, what was Banks doing on the pass interference? Also, when Mullen bolts for Penn State,(that's the rumor I hear), we don't have far to look, got home last night, read the board and said, damnnnnn, I didn't realize we had so many SEC caliber coaches right here on Sixpack!**

...we need a playmaker WR (like Brassell or Singleton), a DE coming off the edge (like Leon Mackey), and a Left Tackle who'll protect the QB's back side. <div>
</div><div>We got the good coaches in place. Now we need the players to execute their plan.</div>

Chris Wilson had them ready to play. The crowd was electric, and our boys were playing lights out. I think some of them were just trying to be so damn physical, that it relayed into some dumb penalties. Back in the 90s when we had the #1 rated defense in the nation, I can recall us doing some of those same things then. I agree with DS in post, our defense played great.

for the most important early game on our schedule against a very average SEC team. Oh well, we are M-State...I just hope we don't lose to the worst OM team in history.
