Poor guy had us confused with the University of MISSouri. The confusion grows worse. Next it’ll be Missouri State and Montana.***

The weirdest thing about MSU under Leach is we are about to de-emphasize the DT position, and probably the DL in general. It won't be priority. So we trade D-Linemen for OL, QB and WR to the NFL.

Damn. 11 downvotes. I'll upvote you because you're right. Honestly, who didn't expect to lose a few recruits and/or current players with a coaching change? Happens all the time. Well worth it.

31’s post was obviously a joke, hence the upvotes. Glfr responded to it in typical glfr fashion to try and make it unfunny. He’s just bad at humor which this board is good at.

The joke sucked because it compared 2 situations that are different.
I laugh at good **** all the time on here and say when it's good.

My God this board has gotten soft over the last few years. Also, if that **** passes as a good joke, you have seriously low standards.

The entire defensive line is going to be de-emphasized? Why? Why wouldnt every staff in the country want to have a strong dline? They should want a strong oline too. 17 man- every staff should want every position to be strong.
What is there to gain from not wanting a strong dline?

Totally dependent on type and quality of recruit. My money is on a 3/4 star everyone wants hitting the road destined for obscurity (obscurity at another school, as opposed to obscurity on our sideline, as everyone knows we have had over our fair share of 4-star mega flops). Compare that to the gnashing of teeth headed our way for the low 3* and unknown 2* that becomes legend and the guy nobody has heard of, appears incapable of ousting from the record books in 10 years time.

Sigh, that'll work in the SEC! If you don't have one of the best DLs in the SEC then pack your lunch and go on vacation during the season because it will be a long waste of time.

Changing that probably played a part.

And that is a big change.

I was wondering that myself. 3 man front vs a 4 man front require different types of DT/DE. We could have mutually agreed that he would be a better fit for a 4 man front and use that scholly for a much needed LB or "Dog Safety" that the new DC wants to run.

Explain this. Does using 3 DL instead of 4 really mean it’s de emphasized? I suppose you can take it that way.

Good grief Dwight they can’t all be gold.

I’m sure you’re a good dude, you just seem to have your antennae tuned up pretty tight.

Seems like a nice kid. Wish him the best there. His film didn’t really impress me or jump off the screen with big plays but maybe he will turn into a great player. Pretty awesome opportunity to travel across the world for an education and to continue playing the sport he loves.

That's why I never get too worked up over any one recruit. I've never heard of that guy and have no idea if he's got 4 stars or 2 (I figure if he had 5, I'd probably have heard of him). But if he doesn't want to play for us, he needed to leave now rather than sign and transfer out in a year or two.

This is just dumb. A 3-3-5 doesn't de-emphasize the DL any more than a typical traditional 3-4 defense would.

Using primarily 3 DL instead of 4 doesn’t mean we’re going to de-emphasize DL. It just means our need for LB’s will increase

I personally think we are alright losing a few of the JUCOs we signed last year. I don't think this guy was going to make too big of a difference, no offense to him.

There was. And he is now committing to the coach who will be there this fall, versus the one who was just fired.

Right. It's completely possible that he liked their new coach better than he likes our new coach. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe Missouri is just a better fit for him now.

I like it because, similar to some of our best defenses we can have 2 platoons, and stay fresh on the Dline. Go look at our current roster and you will see a lot of very young depth that got Some experience last year, and a couple of redshirts.

We also rotated 5 LB over the last 3 games and got more reps for #14 and #18 in the bowl game as well.

The 5th DB is going to be filled by a couple of hybrid 6’1” 220# 4.6 forty guys, who could play safety or LB.

The biggest concern I would have is similar to what we saw the past 2 years and that is the offenses we face that go several plays with same personnel to keep you from subbing especially on the dline. Pass rush may be lacking, but it may be ineffective against quick play passing offensives of today any way.

Damn, really wanted the Aussie on our squad. Too bad. He's got to do what he thinks is best for him, even if he doesn't go to a bowl game or go pro
