When I go for a jog (which is really a jog/walk combo), I often stay in the very middle of the road. It is the flattest, levelest surface available. I do, however, pay very close attention to traffic and get out of the way long before vehicles get close.
Also, if you jog in the middle, you can go either way to dodge traffic.
I hate jogging on sidewalks in a neighborhood. It's hard enough to drag my fat old self around without the constant up/down and angled surfaces of driveways.

When I’m walking my dog, I have to walk down the middle of the road in my neighborhood. If we use the sidewalk, he wants to stop and pee on every mailbox and anything else sticking up out of the ground. However, when a car is coming, if off the effing road like a normal human being should.

In a neighborhood with sidewalks, why in the hell are people walking down the middle of the street AND not getting out of the way when a car comes through?
In the area I tend to walk/run in, sidewalks are pretty uneven and it's not super busy. Much easier to walk on left side against traffic and just hop up on the sidewalk when a car is coming. Also, for people that are walking with somebody, the sidewalk doesn't allow them to walk side by side.

We have to do this for our beagle not for the pisser part though. If we do walk on the side of the road she wants to smell and track everything. In the middle of the road she just walks.

Here lately, I've decided if I can keep 80% of things 'correct' and the 20% that isn't correct, doesn't directly cause me a problem, I will generally let the 20% go. Like, in your instance, YES, those people are assclowns and they deserve to get their face slammed into said concrete sidewalk. It used to bother me to not correct these horrific wrongs in society but these days, unless they are protesters or something and beating my car, I'll just honk and drive on by.

In the age of rampant texting and driving, by all means walk/bike/scoot in the 17n road.

Ask and ye shall receive sigma_dawg.

Survival of the fittest, thinning of the gene pool, cream rising to the top, the weak suffer what they must, law of the jungle, dog eat dog world, water finds its own level, wheat separates from the chaffe, separating the goats from the sheep, pruning the weak branches, yada yada yada.

I would never intentionally hurt a cyclists, I might verbally abuse some, but never hurt one. But, I also was given the good sense to not get in front of fast moving large metallic objects and expect them to have my best interest at heart as they recklessly transport multiple kids in said fast moving metallic objects while eating fast food meals, talking on their cell phones, texting, watching TikTok crap, drinking while driving etc etc etc . I see those road signs and the bumper stickers on the back of bicyclists vehicles that say "Share the Road". Well, you have your own lanes now in many areas and you aren't using it soooooooooooo use the damn things

I’ve never in my life walked my dog/dogs. I’ve always had a back yard and growing up we just let the beagles out to roam the nabe for an hour or so. Called em in from back porch, penned them and fed them. POC.
