Been busy with yardwork, and haven't been out yet this year. What are you anglers hitting on? Usually throw a Texas or Tokyo rig with a brown/red/blue craw combination in the spring. Hate to drag bass off their beds, but spawn fishing is great. This year, think I wanna target crappie more than bass. What are you anglers hitting on down there (central Indy here)?

Married a gal that lived 300 yards from the gray gap bridge. Had some good times around there back in the day, if you know what I mean. Gigged the creek up to the bridge many times too, but I was mostly a few miles downstream. Good memories.
Bunch was gigging down at Waterview one night , 3 of them had no fishin license. Paul McCoy was game warden, so he happened upon them, 3 of them took off running other side of the creek, Paul chased them till they stopped and he asked to see their license, they showed him. He asked why they ran, they said them other 3 boys ain’t got no license. LOL

My dad told a funny story about McCoy, he was chasing some outlaws fishing illegally on the banks of our farm one night and got tangled up in some barbed wire that dad had nailed up to the trees along the creek bank. Apparently, he fell for about 30 yards and never caught the culprits.

We were sitting in Stovers grocery one day, and Paul comes in, grabs a Pepsi and sits down. My Uncle Linnie told Paul he was wanting some squirrel to eat and he knew the season wasn’t in yet, but he was gonna hunt on his own farm. He said, now Paul, if I see you I am gonna run, but, Paul, when I stop to rest, you best stop and rest. I laugh about that today.

Heading back home to Florida next week and plan to hit the canals for bass. Got to be careful this time of year because it's alligator mating season
Fishing again this weekend for bass. Daughter (Now 14) fished a few times when younger for just Bluegill (Pearch, sunfish, panfish, pick your name) but quit when not catching any one day. Went with me Wednesday for the first time in years and we still had her cheapo-special gear (easy to cast) when she hooked into about a 5lb cat. Struggling to get it in she said "Dad help me, this is too hard" I told her: "this is your catch deal with it". She got it to the bank when her rod snapped so, I grabbed the line and helped get it on the bank. Biggest fish she had ever caught and she was extremely proud of it. Now she wants to go more (getting out of the house as well since no school for a while). I will go Saturday for bass and take her Sunday for easier fish.

I used to night fish for trout on Laurel. How's the walleye fishing there?

They were on Great in early April when water Temps got in mid 60's and the Alewy shad spawned. Then crap weather hit and water temps dropped back into the upper 50's. This warming trend will get water temps back up and the threadfin shad will start to spawn and the action will get hot again.

Same here. I went Walleye fishing there 1 night , probably around 1997/8 , and got caught in the worst storm I've ever been caught in on the lake. I was as nervous as a dog shitting peach seeds. Put in at High Top, and couldn't find the ramp. That broke me from not being as alert to the weather.
