Same here. I went Walleye fishing there 1 night , probably around 1997/8 , and got caught in the worst storm I've ever been caught in on the lake. I was as nervous as a dog shitting peach seeds. Put in at High Top, and couldn't find the ramp. That broke me from not being as alert to the weather.

So glad cell phones are available to us now. Having the ability to check weather app on your phone while on lake is a must.

Was never a good lake fisherman, always preferred deep sea as I don't have to worry about rod/reel/bait, enjoy the boat ride out and back and pretty much sucky fisherman proof. Last trip out was a few years ago out of Gloucester, MA and hauled in quite a bit of pollock/haddock, wouldn't allow us to keep any cod. Was planning on going out again this summer before all this **** went down.

They did yesterday, got a family of them here in front of the house. As promised, got U a “song”. My apologies to the op of this thread and all members of the paddock. But a promise is a promise among friends.

For Turnip- Hank Williams Jr. my spin on Country state of mind. Well that hot ole summer sun, finally took me and Turnips last breath, so we found us a spot on the creek bank out in the shade. We been chewing on a hickory twig, guaranteed that bottles missing more than a swig, we ain’t got a lot but we damn sure got it made. We’re just laid up here in a country state of mind. Catching catfish like they’re going out of style, drinking Kentucky moonshine. And if the sun don’t shine tomorrow, you can bet we have had a good time, just laid up here in a country state of mind. Had to drag Turnip out of the kitchen, he had that gwaro music on his radio, he was drinking cheap beer, and listening to old rock and roll. I told him the it all ain’t lost, we’ll find a way to cover the cost, and just keep a keen eye on your fishing pole. We was just laid up here in a country state of mind. Catching catfish like they’re going out of style, drinking Kentucky moonshine. If the sun don’t come up tomorrow, me and Turnip we have had a good time, we’re just laid up here in a country state of mind. We ain’t red necks and we ain’t preppies, no longer into discos and honky rinks, we’re still somewhere between raising hell and amazing grace. All the Paddock knows how we feel, you’ve got to kick up your heels, and By Gawd it’s great to be living in the USA. We’re just laid up here in a country state of mind. -a chuckar is a partridge. Bigger than a quail, smaller than a pheasant. Easier to shoot than a dove. Tastey.
