but Fitz was awesome! Its great to have representatives like him getting some attention. Its hardly ever the good guys that get the headlines. Proud for him.

It looked like he was about to break down and cry when he was talking about the day he lost his sister while also having the best game of his career. He referred to Croom and it being at State. Any idea what game it was?

As for giving up the job with the NFL for a conductors job with the NS, I'm not so sure he made the right choice.

I spent 5 years with the BNSF Railway as a conductor. The life of a railroader is very unstable and is ALL based on sonority. Since Keith just hired on with NS then he only has about a years seniority which AINT SQUAT! When business slows down, the first thing the railroads do is cut their work force and layoff employees, when business picks back up, they bring them back on. During my 5 years working, I probably spent a total of at least a year laid off. Keith could get the call from the railroad any day telling him he's laid off just like he could have with the NFL but with the NFL he would have made a LOT more money.

Right now, I'm sure that the NS is enjoying all this media publicity about one of their employees turning down the NFL to stay with them. Looks great for the NS. However, I'm wondering how they will handle it when they have to lay him off? It's sure going to look bad for the NS if it gets out to the media that they laid off Keith.

They wouldn't lay him off now since all this attention, that's a fact. They will find some other guy to lay off.

If the railroad does not want to lay him off then they will have to keep EVERYONE above him on the seniority list working and just lay off those below him on the list. If they laid off people ahead of him in seniority but kept him working then the union would have a FIELD DAY with the railroad and a LOT of people would get paid. Now what they could do would be to give him a corporate job that is not part of the union or the union could give him a union job then he could exercise his seniority later to go back to conducting. They would be smart right now to put him in the PR department and milk this for all it's worth. He showed last night that he can interview fairly well. With a little "coaching" he could be a GREAT interviewee.

because like someone said, NS is getting exposure for this and they can't lay him off now. But if they did, someone else will be ALL OVER HIM.
