Not that sustained success is synonymous with our basketball program, but the only people who have really won here are the coaches who have already had success within a major conference.

I may piss some folks off but I’ve been sitting on this comment for about 18 hours…DEI Hire. We got what we deserved.

Paris had no business getting our job. Everyone knew it when we hired him. It was such a letdown, but we just hoped it would somehow work even though there was no indicator that it would.

Ridiculous.

What is your evidence when our first choice was Sean Miller? By all accounts, Paris was at least #3 and maybe the #4 choice. Doesn't sound like diversity and inclusion had a thing to do with it.

Until significant NIL $ is put into men's basketball we will continue to get #3, #4 etc choice of coach.

Paris was not a DEI hire, he was an OTJT hire by an inexperienced and unqualified person as an AD.

It'd be nice if the MAGA crowd could just say, "It was a terrible hire." Instead, y'all gotta always blame black people, cuz when you say it was a DEI hire, that's exactly who you're blaming. Any time a black person fails at their job, it's DEI. They shouldn't have been there in the first place. How many white coaches did we have before Paris who failed? Remember Steve Newton? I can't imagine living in y'all's world where you're so convinced that you're superior that every time a person of color is put in a position of power or responsibility above yours, they are unqualified because of their color (or sex, or sexual preference, etc.).

In Paris' case it was Ray Tanner's fault. Tanner was a "Good ol' Boy" hire - not a hire based on his merits as an AD (aka the meritocracy that MAGA so desperately clings to). Hiring Tanner was also terrible. And that guy got to stay around as long as he wanted. I wonder why.

And it'd be even nicer if liberals wouldn't LITERALLY SPIN everything into some liberal BS narrative that just isn't so, and falls apart completely under the slightest bit of scrutiny....IE:

1) Literally NOT blaming "black people." - The blame goes squarely on the shoulders of ALL LIBERALS who think it's a great idea to hire less qualified people over more qualified people, simply based on skin color...... we used to call that racism. (IT IS RACISM) Liberals love racism. It is a grotesque ideology that leads to failure. YOU HIRE THE BEST QUALIFIED PERSON FOR THE JOB, PERIOD.

2) RE: "person of color" - WHITE is a color too.... true or false? True. - You're welcome. Stop posting your racist BS please. Keep your hatred to yourself please.

If it wasn't for a miracle 3 point shot at the buzzer to win the SoCon title for Chattanooga, Paris would not have been hired here.

You sincerely lack an understanding of DEI, and that's the problem. DEI does not and never meant promoting unqualified people. That's your and MAGA's spin on the whole thing. But you'll only ever believe that it's about taking something from white people. When did y'all get so fragile that you think you've lost everything? I'm white and I can accept that we need to do better in this country. When I see a black pilot, I'm like "Dang, way to go bro. There's a good chance you had to overcome a lot to become a fricking pilot!" You see a black pilot and think "DEI hire. Hope he doesn't crash the plane." Who's the racist?

Your boy "spun" the Paris hire as DEI, which is what y'all do any time a black person gets a job you don't think they deserve. And that's pretty much the definition of racist. Whether you accept it or not.

Get your post in soon with this topic, I see a shut down soon with Mod's ;)

Agreed.

If you're promoting someone based on skin color over qualifications, then DEI is exactly what you say it isn't.

That being said, I dont buy that Paris was a DEI hire.

I think it's pretty safe to say that Paris is likely gone at the conclusion of the season.

Yeah, that's right. And that's not what DEI is. Do your research.

Honestly I dont see skin color when I see anyone in a job.
I do see DEI hire when I see some fat dude in a dress and makeup as the head of one of our military branches.
Seems like the only time I think of skin color at all is when some liberal on TV tells me im racist because im a white male conservative Christian.
We are (according to God] one race, the Human race.

How good of a coach is Richey and would he have done a better job?

His Wikipedia bio says he prefers to retain and develop players. Could he adjust to the transfer rules and NIL?

And yet many very intelligent people will argue that is exactly what it is. We can each throw lots of research at each other that defends our point of view. Its been done more than once on this board.

Ill simply say if you bring race in as any type of criteria, you are diminishing the other qualifications.

And there's the straw man argument. If that is your true belief, then you shouldn't have a problem with "a fat dude in a dress and makeup." All humans, right?

Race does not equate to mental illness, imho.

Edit: I am curious how it's a straw man argument when there's an actual example of it, that Levine dude.

I don't think Paris was DEI..... There's no way he was the first choice. Now if there were two people equally qualified, or there were other better choices that wanted the job, and race was the determining factor on why he's here... Then yes, I would say I agree.... I sure hope we have someone interested when he gets dumped this year..... Looks like that's about all people will agree on in this thread.
