Flacco contract?

I believe he's led the Ravens
to the playoffs & won at least 1 playoff game every season he's been in the NFL...and not an easy task with what he had to work with some of those years.

i have a question about evaluatig qb's in light of the flacco discussion.....its always said that one qb "beat" another. well, they didn't. they weren't on the field at the same time and didn't play against the same defense, so how in the world did flacco 'beat' any other qb? why is that even discussed? and i'm not critcizing you topgundawg, this is said all the time.....but it really makes no sense to me in evalating a qb. you could have an adequate qb (i'd say flacco is one) with a lights out reciever corp (see willie totten) or a shut down defense who wins a lot but ain't all that. seems to me "face to face" qb comparisons are oxymorons by definition.
I certainly think it's too much for him, even though he's a Top 5 NFL QB.
But in his defense, he does has a playoff win every year in the NFL, and he does have an above average arm. Great deep ball thrower, and he's a relatively low risk high reward type of QB. He's a talented game manager type of QB but typically doesn't throw very bad balls. Most times he's not going to lose a game for you, but he certainly has the skills to take you down the field and win one for you.
He already has 9 playoff wins in only 5 years, which puts him tied for 9th all time and he's got some great weapons on offense. Now I think sports players get paid too much already so I think 120.6 million is too much for anyone and if anyone was going to be paid that amount, I don't think it should be Flacco. But I can understand why they did it. Serviceable OL, good RB, good WR, pretty good DL. They needed to lock up their QB so they can retool their defense in the coming years with the draft. They will be set on offense for years, so if they can get younger on defense, they are going to be around an AFC contender for a while.

Eli Manning got all the glory and a Superbowl MVP when the Giants beat the undefeated Patriots in Superbowl 42.
Rewind to a minute before kickoff and all anybody talked about for the 2 weeks leading up to the game was that the Pats might have had the best offense ever assembled. Pats offense this, Pats offense that.
THE story of the game was clearly the Giants defense handling the so called best offense ever assembled.
But down the stretch, Eli breaks one tackle, throws up a prayer, and Tyre makes a circus catch to sustain a winning drive. And for that, Eli gets the MVP and gets discussed as some kind of legend.
Um, hello...again, the story was the Giants defense vs (supposedly) the best offense the NFL has ever seen. And yeah, that defense had a MSU Bulldog on it. But that's not the point. Defense won that game. But QBs get headlines. And media attention. And message board fodder. And contracts. QBs get paid.
I'm not denying that he's a very good QB or that he had a very impressive postseason, but we're talking the top contract in NFL history. 1/6 of the Ravens' entire salary cap for the next few years. I agree that there was no way that they could let him walk, but his agent just robbed them.
If we were to go back to about 6 weeks ago, how far down the ranked list of NFL QBs would you have gotten before you reached Flacco? Anyway, he got his ring and he got his contract so congrats to him, but that is some crazy money.

There are six that I still think are ahead of him. Sure, he won a superb Owl but to give him a top 5 status and call him an "elite" qb is getting way ahead of ourselves.
