I know most of you will say I'm crazy but I still believe that Croom is a good hire for Head Coach at MSU. I hope he stays around a while and builds the program he promised. In saying that though, I would like to see a few changes.

1. Hire a GOOD, young, aggressive Offensive Coordinator. On game day, HE controls the offense, not Croom...period. Same with the Defensive Coordinator. It's their job to manage their side of the ball. Let them do their job and hold them accountable for their results...PERIOD!!! On game day, CC only needs to be taking notes on what to correct in the next practice. He's just like a BN commander in the Army. He needs to set the policies for the team, delegate responsibility then hold those under him accountable for their actions.

2. Find a GOOD assistant coach that can manage the game clock. They need to be in the ear of the OC and DC for the whole game.

3. Let Croom do some serious recruiting. This is where I think Croom will have an advantage in the SEC if we can get the wins to back up his sales pitch.

Just my opinion. Flame away!

You are an absolute moron and it is fans like that will be the reason State is always at the bottom of the SEC. Any other school in the SEC except Vandy would not stand for this level of incompetence. But fans like you that are just willing to be half way decent once every five years are the problem. There is your flaming, please go support a different team like Ole Miss or hell, try Southern.

For that reason, he shouldn't be back.

1. Croom runs the offense. No matter who we hire, he'll still run the offense or it will look the same as now.

2. Croom is getting paid 1.7 mil per year. He coaches in the SEC and should be able to manage a game clock. He is in year 5 and he still can't do it effectively.

3. Croom has taken advantage of an 0-8 SEC Rebel team from last year and a coaching change at USM and UM to reel in the guys we currently have. Once again, it has taken him 5 years to learn how to recruit. He has also refused to recruit a QB for about 2 years.

see, if croom would agree to that, you're right. we'd also have to hire a guy to make sure he didn't make retarded statements. we'd have to turn him into a game day vegetable and let him give moms the "i am their father" spiel.

None of those 3 things will prevent the following: punting from the 30, wasting timeouts with time to play before the half, not knowing that a QB sneak is legal on short yardage situations. These are all things that his stubborn pride won't let any great coordinator hire overrule. If a head coach in the SEC actually has to hire a guy to manage the game clock, we're in deeper trouble than I thought.

Just recruit and break down a 'lil film'?

All you Croom apologist are the same, you want the status quo. You think the answer is piece meal change, no.

Once more and aGAIN? What DECECNT OC would want to come to MSU w/a potential lame duck coach.

This is how we got the famous retread horde: Blake, Cooper, Carmody.

No no no no. Why do we NOT want to make change?
Recruiting?-Um we've lost some already because WE SUCK!
To make Croom feel good? He should getting 1.7 for do very little
To keep the university from having a black eye from the firing? Who freakin' cares, the ppl that ***** about firing a coach w/poor of a record that Croom has already has their minds made and has an agenda-and it ain't MSU
In hopes he'll bring back the spirit of 2007? BS...The spirit of that season's going to a bowl for Ol Ball Coach

Most major programs and ALL good D1 programs would have already let Croom go, but MSU we talk about bringing a 4 out of 5 year loser back. Yes we are MSU and that is their typical mentality

Your a $%$@$+@ idiot for thinking anything will change. We have to get rid of the entire crew and anybody who wants to see losers on the field and half the student section hanging out in the junction during the game can keep supporting this man. Trainwreck will continue to lose because they are not well coached.

...but I am willing to give Croom one more year only if:

1. He hires a real OC for a change.

2. Recruits a legit FG kicker.

3. Keeps improving his recruiting classes.

Plus I am a mizer when it comes to money: If I pay somebody $1.7 million to produce, I'm always going to take the conservative approach.

you want to pay Crooms 1.7 million dollars to be the recruiting coordinator? You're not crazy, you're just a dumbass

He is not going to let another OC come in and change what we do...hell, we are doing what he wants done on offense- and as he says- "we just arent executing"

Back me up Coach, but is it not widely known amongst Mississippi HS coaches that Crooms is a very lazy recruiter? And Obama wants to pay him 1.7 mil to recruit???

You even admit that Crxxm can't coach worth a **** when you say that he should have no game-day coaching function. Hell, if we took your advice Crxxm may as well just go fishing on gamedays. And then you want to let him just recruit. That's worked out well for us so far. We've got the only offensive line in college football that averages under 300 lbs per man. Our best QB is a JUCO walkon midget. We don't have a single player on defense that can get pressue on the QB. And we have one of the worst kickers in the history of college football. Yeah, letting Crxxm be in charge of recruiting has really turned out well for us.

You friggen sheep are to the point where you are grabbing so much at straws to keep this dead beat head coach that you will actually make a case against your points in the same post you spew to keep the man. Why in the hell would you keep him if he can't manage the game clock from the head coach position? Oh and just let him recruit? Like he has been worth a **** at it for the previous 4 years? The dumbass is playing a previous walk on qb that has beat out every one of his hand picked recruits.

All you dipshit sheep that want to keep this retard is a fan of employees for MSU. Definitely not the university itself. You will buy any propaganda thrown your way and absorb it as concrete truth if the dipshit is wearing maroon. You obviously have no ability to think for youself and just rely on the highly objective opinions of one of the biggest dumbasses out there that just so happens to run the MSU scout board.

Judging by Crxxm's first 5 recruiting classes, there are quite a few players who feel the same way.

...simply because it'd be a very impolitic move to fire him this year.

I'm sure McCorvey's been encouraged to update his c.v. The fact that McCorvey has a multi-year contract (2 years, right? At least that's what I'm thinking) gives him some time to find a job.

How do you know he's not MThrob? Because he didn't ask you tomeet him in front of the M-Club, or the Men's room, or wherever, to "discuss" things with him.

The problem with Croom is he isn't a good coach. He would be a good figure head. If he hired coaches, allowed them to run the show, and was just the public speaker and deal closer in mama's living room, then perhaps that would work. He'd still need someone else to make the crucial in-game decisions, but that would be better. Problem is, he won't do that. He's far too hands on, and he's far too incompetent to be successful in that kind of role. The offense is terrible. The players are terribly coached. The playcalling is horrible. The gameday decisions are baffling. It's just bad and it just won't work. I wish it would because I like Croom and if successful he would be great for MSU. But, it's time to end this experiment because any hope of Sly being a consistent winner is really a pipe dream. I count 3 games lost solely by coaching this season. Saturday's game was the worst yet. No excuse whatsoever for losing that game. The decisions Croom makes just baffle me. He typically does the opposite of what he should in any given situation.

I don't get the Croom as a good figure head idea.

He says stupid **** too much.

And he would still make the go for it or punt decisions.

Other than a perception, Croom is good at nothing as a head football coach.

Perhaps I should say he'd be better as a figure head. The basic idea is this, he isn't going to cut it as hands on head coach, and he isn't going to go hands off, so it really doesn't matter anyway. It's just a matter of time until he gets canned.

Now, read over what you just typed, and tell me that you couldn't have said the same thing about Ed Orgeron. Give him a good OC and DC. Give him someone to handle the in game clock management type decisions, and let him focus on recruiting, and you have an alright head coach.

Basically, what you just said is that you think you could do alright with Croom as your recruiting coordinator. You don't make your recruiting coordinator your head coach. If you think that's all he can do to help you, then you hire a new head coach and ask him if he'd be willing to stick around to coach RBs and be the recruiting coordinator.
