If you see how BBN turned out yesterday and still don't want to be here...

Meh...good PG prospect, but the Cow managed not to win anything with All-World players at the position, such as Rose, Wall and Fox. Doubt Boogie Fland can overcome his "coaching"

He can enjoy Fayetteville, we need players who want to come to Kentucky because of the name on the front of the jersey, not because they want to treat the program like a G-League pit stop. Those days are over.

There's not a single incoming freshmen to expect to come to UK other than Travis Perry. In fact, I'd almost wager that Reed is more likely to come back for Year 2 than any of the incoming freshmen are to stay committed to UK - again, aside from Travis Perry

Yeah whatever give me Wall or fox at pg this year over whatever we end up with.

They will all do this. Not sure why we react. Pope will reach out to who, if any, of them fit what he’s doing.
Plus this opens up spots for upperclassmen transferring in who could contribute at a higher level.

Our fans are so conditioned by Cal to think our success hinges on 5 stars coming in. Open your eyes. It hasn’t worked for half a decade. Log off here and come back when you are done having Cal think for you.

So you expect Fland to stay commited to UK because we had a full crowd at a press conference? When Mark Pope and BYU was not on his radar. He probably didn’t know the name Mark pope a few days ago.
When we turn away more people than showed up for UConn's first title celebration and almost as many as showed up for Cal's intro. I expect them to at least wait it out and talk to the coach. Maybe he did and realized it wasn't for him or Pope let him know he wouldn't be a great fit (highly doubt this) and then he left.

Either way, Curly Bill still speaks true. give me players that want to be here.

Pope talked about the importance of getting players that fit.

I don't know enough about our recruits to have any idea what their strengths are but we're probably going to have to accept that not only will some of them reject UK but it may be based on UK telling them what their role would be.

Don't think we're living in the 5 star preferential treatment era anymore.

pope said he talked to every recruit. Fland said he talked to pope and will still consider UK. do you want pope not to recruit him still since he asked out of his NLI?

Not sure where you got that idea from anything I said, but I'm not beating my head against a wall.

Why would ANYONE be surprised? Do y’all not get it?

Frankly, you should be assuming this is orchestrated by Cal, in terms of timing, to come right after the pop of Pope’s day. That’s classic Cal re rollout strategy.
He cant coach a lick but he does know how to space his recruiting commits well. Feels weird not being nba churn n burn U anymore not going to lie

In this day and age, under these circumstances. You gotta have 1 foot out the door to negotiate your piece of the NIL pie. These kids have agents now. Boogie may want nothing in the world more than to play at Kentucky. But agents can't live off 10% of nothing.

Maybe that means DJ may be back?
I don’t think DJ is a fit. I’m not sure Pope would even try to recruit him too hard. Fland could work in the system. DJ would need to improve his shooting and release time drastically to be the 1

It might be rough this upcoming season. But in the long term we might be better as a program.

That’s because Reed is coming back and running the show.

I wish I could say that with a little more confidence on getting Reed back but I think we will get the guy we need next year.

Did Pope say he had already spoke to everyone? I missed that if he did. I think Fland could just be doing his due diligence with this situation.
Pope did say that he'll be contacting all current players and recruits, so I have to assume that conversation is upcoming.

I want to say something negative but these are just kids and it wouldn't be fair on them (who is advising them I have another thing to say). I am just excited for Coach Mark Pope to get kids that WANT to play for both the name on the FRONT of the Jersey and BACK along with the greatest fanbase in College Basketball and maybe sports itself. I am done being excited about having 5 * and more excited about having players who want to play together and win for the greater good and STILL be good at the next level. Ya know Pitino did it with a bunch of good/great players.
GO #BBN

As someone stated earlier, if yesterdays presser with over 20k+ fans attending (WOW) wouldn't excite someone to come play for us, then I don't know what to tell you.

I found it interesting that the byu point guard who entered the portal doesn’t have Kentucky as a option

This is not Cals Kentucky, if you want to be pampered and to be told you will be in the NBA next year, don't come here. If you want to work hard and win championships and play for the greatest college program ever, come here. Playing for a coach that won a national championship at Kentucky as a player should be an exciting opportunity for any kid.

Cal's narrative is the track record of getting recruits to the NBA as quickly as possible. That attracts talented one and done's; or those that think they will be. It is one reason that some of these past recruits declare and go on to mediocre situations, transfer, or are able to get a NBA contract after one year despite not winning anything.

It is true we would hope to have on occasion the very top Freshman recruits but I mean the top and even then no guarantees. Kentucky has to now have a model of seeking good players that are going to not hold the above expectations for the most part. Every year for the past decade we celebrated the signing of some Freshman 5 stars.....how did that work out?
