Sure, he's much easier to listen to at basketball games, but he has never bothered me.

That said, the new guy sounds pretty good.

I didn't mind him at football, and I'd even started to like him with basketball. I'm curious to see who replaces him.

He is a great guy...but he should not be a football PA announcer.

Basketball is a different story. My extreme hatred for him in football games was countered by my love of his voice in basketball games.

Either he or his spotter, at least, needed to be replaced. It got brutal listening to him in football. "Anthony Dixon with the carry. 3rd down and 3...Correction, 3rd and 9." It got to the point where he was doing that way too much each game and it got really annoying.

heard vs. Tennessee in opening throttling of 1990 season

EDITED: Galloway carried the ball on our first 12 offensive plays-four possessions all of which resulted in punts

I hope he's not being replaced by the guy who announced tonight. The guy stuttered constantly.

he's the voice of the hump. he didn't fit right with football games, but his vocal mannerisms were great for basketball atmosphere. we should have a different guy for each of the big three sporting venues anyways. the guy today was okay, but i can't see him generating much excitement in the hump.

I agree, and I would like to have seen him kept for basketball only too. But we really don't know what happened. He could have been offered basketball only and not have taken it. I hear the guy's got an ego, so that wouldn't be surprising.

1. Flick's been at MSU since 1971 and wants to cut back on some of his duties before he retires from the university.

2. Byrne knows Flick's been at MSU since 1971 and is likely to retire in the next few years and will be busy with stuff of that nature so he's wanting to make a change now.

if that were a possibility, his ego would have stepped in and he would have told them they could find someone else. Jon Holmes is a good guy - he's from Eupora and has been doing women's basketball and baseball for several years.

I liked Flick. Of course much of that was because he was one of my favorite instructors when I went to MSU. I always thought he did a good job at basketball. I was kinda 50/50 about his football work but thought he was adequate.

Announcing is not as easy a job as it looks or sounds. I hope they get someone that does a good job, but if it goes like most of the higher profile jobs at MSU have whoever they get will have a group that love his work and a group that doesn't.

The only person I know who has not fallen into this MSU quagmire of sports personalities has been Jack, and there is only one Jack.
