Anyone at the game yesterday notice that the new PA guy said Darryl Williams (instead of Darryl Wilson) as the answer to the triva question? That shows just how much this guys knows about MSU basketball. He suxs!

as Hank.

And he is difficult to hear. His voice blends in with the crowd buzz. Now that is something Hank's voice never did, blend in.

But it really isn't that important.

something that also pissed me off about him yesterday was that when recruits walked in, he continued to do the bulldog legends on charles rhodes when clearly noone was paying attention and everyone was clapping for recruits. Not only did it interupt us welcoming our future in football, but it didn't give Chuck Rhodes the credit he deserved b/c noone was paying attention. I know the announcer cant control everthing, but surely he can figure out that he needs stop doing the tribute to rhodes until the recruits are done walking through.

Problem is, if it had been Hank, I wouldn't have a clue as to what he said.

I think Hank is a great guy, but his voice does not work in a crowd.

Not that it matters, but he said Daryl Williams not Warren. Also I loved how he cleared his throat into the microphone while doing the pregame player announcements.

He does a good job with football, but we need a replacement for basketball fast

Although I don't understand how reasonable minds can differ on this subject, it is apparent that there are two distinct opinions. I think Hank Flick was an embarrassment. I cannot tell you how many visitors I have heard comment derisively on the MSU PA announcer with the high pitch, nasal voice. What is amazing is that it took so long to replace him. Those of you who respect "the Ninja" should take note of the fact that replacing Flick was one of the first actions he took as AD. His action corroborates my opinion and the many other State fans who share it. I have heard some say that they are glad that he was replaced in football, but they liked him in basketball. He was a clown at the basketball games too. I think he was worse at basketball games because he played a larger role, placing himself at the center of attention.

The new PA announcer was a perfect choice. He has a great voice--neutral accent--and he does not try to be the star. He does what a PA announcer is supposed to do--introduce the players and coaches in a manner that directs the fans' attention on the people being introduced--not on the announcer. As he matures in the job, the occasional glitches will be ironed out. Just give him time. </p>

I guess this may be a minority opinion but I thought he was great. I associated his voice with may and it was different. Annoying? Maybe. But so are cowbells.

I get thsat some people don't like Flick, but the new guy is like not even having a PA announcer at all. I don't even notice it.

The guy is obviously an idiot. He had to be the only one in the Hump that didn't know Darryl's last name.

Our arena is one of the nicest and toughest places to play in the conference. If they complain about a "nasal" sounding PA guy then that is the least of my worries. I think 90% of the fan base wants flick back. The pregame is just not the same without him. It's all about what OUR fans think and what pumps OUR players up before the game. It's pretty evident that Hank did the better job of this.

Edit: That 6th man thing has to go. It makes me want to sit down and not show my face.

Not being able to hear the new PA announcer beats having to listen to Flick by a longshot.

defending yourself, but you suck. A PA is not supposed to be neutral. He is not supposed to blend in. He is not supposed to leave a live mic when he is talking in the box. A PA guy should drive the crowd, ESPECIALLY AT MSU. Our fans are too quite and too polite. They sit there like they are watching TV. We need a PA guy who will get them out of there seats and into the game.

All MSU people hate Glen Waddle, but he gets Ole Miss fans into the game. He is a bit over the top and needs to pull back, but Ole Miss gets and has a home field/court advantage in part because of him. We don't have that.

From my standpoint, the PA announcer should create excitment. I can't even hear this guy do the player intoductions. And speaking of Darryl Wilson, if our current announcer was around during Darryl's tenure, he would not have the name "Super D". He would have just been Darryl Williams.

I don't know how many people I've talked to that have said something to the effect that they missed having Hank do basketball games.

about if Hank was great or awful (I for one loved Hank but they needed to turn the damn volume down at football and they never should have replaced him in Basketball) but if you think the new announcer is "great" you are just a #%*$%++ idiot. He's terrible. Wanna replace Hank, fine, but at least replace him with someone worth a damn.

I miss Hank because he filled the Hump with energy, this new guy dosen't have the charisma Hank did on the mike.
