The "investigation"'s sole purpose is to set a legal foundation to terminate Flood without paying the full buyout.... and it will be set.

We should just get it over with and fire him now and let wilson take over and publicly start the search for a replacement. The ruling from the investigation will remain the same and the financial result will remain the same. The only thing i can think of is that they are waiting to be officially bowl ineligible.

Agree/disagree?

How does RUinSD (South Dakota??) have any idea regarding the "legal foundation to terminate Flood without paying the full buyout...."

wow if you say something enough times it becomes true?
Been following RU sports a long time - not sure what has changed that would mean a mid year firing nor a firing this year.

Folks looking for that firing mid year must still be waiting for that pony at Christmas!

This makes no sense. If the investigation is to give reason for firing Flood, you can't fire Flood before the investigation is over. Otherwise the investigation is meaningless for that purpose.

I can bide my time for 27 more days.
Spanky, you might want to think about filling his free time by doing something other than being a moderator here.

The uproar ain't going away until he's terminated.
I think the point is that we really don't need a new thread on the same topic from someone who really doesn't know much. I'll ask the OP this- if Rutgers is going through all these legal maneuvers to lay the groundwork for termination, why would they jump the gun and jeopardize their efforts? I tend to agree with vkj. Nothing happening until after the season.

I disagree that the investigation is about a buyout. Its about people finally paying attention to whispers going on for a few years now.
Rutgers will pay more for the investigation than they would buying out KF at full pay.

I hope the hierarchy has a good handle on who the next coach will be before the end of the season. Otherwise, it will be deja vu all over again. Not sure what will be worse, HCKF staying or a repeat of the debacle of 2012 which led to HCKF

Rutgers doesn't fire coaches with non-losing regular seasons and won't after one losing regular season, if it happens.

Disagree. Julie isn't Mulcahy or Pernetti. She knows how this is done

We'll aren't going for the hat trick. We already Fired a basketball HC for getting stuck in a snowstorm. Then fired his replacement for going to a baseball game without permission.

I believe Julie realizes you fire a HC like every other team in the country does it. Maybe then, unlike hoops, we won't have to hire this guy next as it may be the only person willing to apply for the job.

If we lose to Army the staff's office possessions need to be in boxes on the curb outside the Hale Center before the buses get back.

Joe P.

Flood's vintage team almost lost to Army in 2013. I could very well see another epic death struggle. Army ran the ball pretty good on Penn State.

Waters was negotiating a buyout before the snowstorm even happened. BK on the basketball board said Waters would tell anybody to their face that his time at RU was coming to an end regardless.

Your right. They both resigned with buyouts under no pressure from either AD neither of which had their henchmen leaking ridiculous stories to the press about missed games due to snowstorms and outbursts at baseball games. Almost impossible to figure out how the local press got those stories.

Can you imagine what this board will be like on November 29th if w lose to Nebraska and Maryland and it's announced that Flood is coming back after 4-8 season

Yes but if that happens I'd much rather we unload on the president and the BOG than the moderators here.

No way that's right. There's so much wrong with it that the reasons are hard to enumerate.

And the only way that he's fired before the last game has ended is if the investigation uncovers something that truly requires immediate termination.

oh yes they did....Gary Waters was canned at 17-12....and for Fred Hill Jr no less...lol

Waters wasn't canned, but resigned after the attempt to fire him failed to go the way it was planned (for cause) and he and RU reached a financial settlement on what RU owed for the rest of his contract .
Hill's for cause firing firing fizzled and RU had to pay a buyout.
Rice was fired for cause , but RU did pay buyout money ( believe half of what was owed).
Even if Rice was a dead on for cause fire, he received a buyout .

Football coaches have been fired with winning records, just not at RU.
Flood will be back unless the for cause clause can be used and as you can see that clause didn't work to well for the last two ADs that tried it.

Have to agree here. You're a decent poster, but an awful moderator. A good moderator attempts to find the middle ground of the board with his posting temperament. That ain't you.

This and the key part is "if at all"
Full disclosure, I only put the "if at all" part bemuse if by some slim chance he is retained I didn't want some jerk job to argue about it 8 months from now.

If the Floodies don't want people to talk about how much Flood sucks, then just delete all the football threads and let's discuss expired candy until he is fired. Their audacious and incredulous defense of a man who thrown to the program into on and off the field chaos is an insult to real fans.

If they try to keep him everyone should non renew and let Barchi know and ask how TTFP and Michigan fans will keep the lights on when 20k show up for every other game.

Agree. All the other moderators have always been more or less neutral, and even if they have their own opinions on something they've kept it to themselves for the most part...unless specifically asked. Their main responsibilities have been to monitor the board, make sure things don't get too out of hand, and do troll cleaning when needed. Have never really seen one who consistently takes a definitive side, especially when it comes to an issue like the Flood situation.

If a person's simply a poster, taking sides is pretty much par for the course. -If you're going to be a moderator and can't resist doing that, then it's probably best to leave that job to somebody else.
