Why did we decide to extend Flood? Why are we on the hook for 1.4 million dollars? I thought if we needed to fire him the money was there.

How is this decision not an indictment on Julie?

We extended Flood because he was getting killed in recruiting by Franklin because apparently JF was telling recruits that Flood was going to get canned at the end of last season so don't commit to him.

Julie didn't want to extend him. Julie doesn't like Flood but needs Flood.

The extension was donated.

Just for the record, I'm not a fan of Julie AT ALL, but IMO the extension is not on her

Did Rutgers receive this donation already or was it simply pledged?

His buyout is covered. I don't think the university is on the hook for hardly anything.

Serious question what did Jeff Towers pledge and then rescind on? Trying to figure it out but can't remember. Also why is he still around and talking to the newspaper's if he has donated nada?

Is money to INCREASE Floods buyout the only significant donation JH has raised since coming to RU?

Posted this in the other thread.

I don't have a problem with the extension because it was funded privately. How many here were complaining about his lack of security and it affecting recruiting. So he got an extension and raise and after last year I didn't see any complaints. Now this year we hear them.

The problem isn't the extension, the only issue is does any contractual move you make harm your long term financial flexibility. If not it doesn't matter then. It's playing both sides of the fence and ideally that's the way you'd want it. You're set up for either outcome. If Flood works out his security is set and if he doesn't your long term financial flexibility hasn't been harmed and you can let him go. Since this was funded privately I would think it didn't harm our financial flexibility but we'll find out.

He still is getting killed in recruiting by Frankiin. That worked well.

Don't think this is true. Most assistants are on one year contracts so there would be no buyout for most (if not all of) the staff.

Agreed. But this is when the "Flood is a nice guy" crew were loud and proud. They decided to ignore his actual ability to coach because they like him as a person.

I read 65 of you guys kicked in $50/ea and have raised $3500 toward the $1.4M buyout. LOL.

I'm all for bringing in Belechik but with our dismal fanbase it ain't happening any time soon.
