Has any coach ever quit a job, then changed his mind and not been a lot worse afterwards than he was before?Three examples that come to mind areBilly Donovan,Bobby Cremins and Ron Polk. Donovan had 3 Final Four appearances and 2 national titles when he took the Orlando job only to return to Florida. He hasn't won an NCAA tournament game since then (and has only even made the tournamnet once in three years). Cremins was 240-135, with an Elite 8, a Final Four and 2 Sweet 16sat GA Tech when he took the South Carolina job only to return to GA Tech a couple of days later. After then, he was only 114-102 and only made the NCAA tournament once in seven years. And of course we all know about Ron Polk.

Point being, is it so crazy for Florida to start thinking about moving on sooner rather than later? Will Urban Meyer be the exception to the rule? Are there any other exceptions to the rule that anyone can think of?

I hadn't drawn that comparison.

Really, I understand any growing pains UF may be having defensively. Sure they recruit lights out every year, but they did lose a ton of starters and depth in one swoop. Experience is hard to replicate no matter how talented you are.

However, the offense is pretty sad. They did lose some talent there as well, including Tebow, but they've had a few years to prepare for the Brantley era, and they've known since Newton left that Brantley was going to be the guy, yet they still can't adapt their spread option offense for a drop back passing QB. Every time they run some form of option with Brantley, it makes them look clueless.

I'm trying to think about the actual football reasons why they are struggling, but you may be on to something with a coach leaving and coming back.

If that son of ***** was a Miss State he would have committee suicide eight years ago. Hell you are going to have down years. They will still get to seven or eight wins and go bowling.
