But I like our chances a lot better now than I did 5 minutes ago.

This is just one more reason I don't like the SEC tournament. Some teams just don't take it seriously at all. I'd much rather add 3 games to the schedule and play Kentucky this weekend. And yes, I know that will never happen.

I would like to see the SEC go to the pod schedule, similar to what Conference USA does

That way you can have a four-day vacation, see a lot of baseball and play some games

I don't think the pod system is the best way for determining a champion in a tournament but since half of the SEC does not take this tournament seriously, I think you could play that format in this event and people would enjoy it

neither Georgia nor Auburn any good but could actually prevent them from making the NCAAT, and something needs changing.

Gerogia needs to scale back their schedule or figure out how to beat Mercer. That's not the SEC Tournament's fault that they overscheduled.

I like the SEC Tournament because it's a fun event, but it is what it is- and nowadays it really doesn't have a whole lot of impact on the postseason.

they(georgia) has an RPI of around 19 and they are in the position of having to win three games in a tournament that has nothing but negative implications for them, so much so that I'm sure they wish they could trade places with OM or LSU and be a team that barely missed it rather than a very strong RPI team that "loses" for having made it.
But hey, it is what it is, so like you say, They should have beaten Mercer</p>

They are 28-28. If their season were over, they couldn't qualify. They need to at least go 3-2 this weekend at worst to finish over .500.

Auburn is the team that would rather trade places and stay home. They're 29-27. They have to win one game this weekend. If they go 0-2, they are out of regionals.

And I agree with Todd, RPI is a flawed formula. It's better than a lot of things out there, but I think it puts way too much emphasis on scheduling over how you actually do against that schedule.
