Florida's Run Defense...

...Florida ranks 13th in run defense, 2nd in pass defense, and 2nd in total defense. We are 13th in rushing offense, 104th in passing offense, and 53rd in total offense. Florida is more vulnerable against the run than the pass, and we are much better at running it than throwing it. So to stay in the game, we'll have to be able to run it on them. Looking closer at Florida's run defense, here is what they have done each week against Division 1A:

Troy - Gave up 73 yards on the ground. However, Troy was down 35-3 at halftime, and Troy is the NCAA's 69th best rushing team.
UT - Gave up 117 net yards on the ground. I watched much of this game, and UT was able to run it on them especially in the first half, with Hardesty, even though Florida knew UT was no threat to throw with Crompton. UT is the 35th best rushing offense.
UK - Kentucky had 86 net yards. Again, UK was down 31-7 at halftime and had to abandon the run. They are 27th in rushing offense.
LSU - Picked up 66 net yards. We have all seen how LSU struggles to run it. They are 89th in rushing, and just couldn't get any offense going.
Arkansas - Ran for 133 net yards. They are 76th in rushing, but had some success at 3.9 yards per carry.

I think this is the key to the game. The defense has to keep it close, and we have to be able to run it, and I think we can. Florida has not faced a rushing offense as good as ours yet. And in competitive game situations, UT (averaging 184 rushing yards per game) and Arkansas (averaging 134 yards per game) had some success. In fact, Arkansas was right at their average. We average 219, and if we can get close to that, we'll have a chance to win.

They are suffering some critical injuries up front with 4 defensive tackles, including starters and backups, questionable, a starting defensive end questionable, and an All-American MLB questionable.

We've got a chance to really control the clock.....I hope.

If we give Florida the ball on our end of the field, or heaven forbid throw a pick 6 in the first quarter, it is over.

If we DON'T do that, we will stay close enough to not have to get one-dimensional. Under that scenario, I am saying there is a chance.

...if we can hold them to 24 or less points, run for close to our average, and not turn it over, I say we will be very close to winning. Of course, that is pretty close to a perfect game.

tobeat a team like Florida, you have to play the perfect game. Which means, NO TURNOVERS. Arky played it, winning the turnover battle 4-0. And they had the chance to win, and in all likelyhood, should of.

If we can not turn the ball over, we have that chance. It would be great to have our return guys outplay brandon james. If we get a gamechanging play or two that set up good field position or even a TD. We will have a chance

Too bad the back-ups back-ups are 4 and 5 stars. There's still talent everywhere, maybe not experience, but talent all over UF's sideline!

That teams which are supposedly bad against the run aren't going to just lay down for us.

All I can think of is dumb and dumber. Florida has the 13th rushing defense and we are getting all happy.

Lloyd: What do you think the chances are of a guy like you and a girl like me... ending up together?
Mary: Well, Lloyd, that's difficult to say. I mean, we don't really...
Lloyd: Hit me with it! Just give it to me straight! I came a long way just to see you, Mary. The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances?
Mary: Not good.
Lloyd: You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?
Mary: I'd say more like one out of a million.
[pause[/i]]
Lloyd: So you're telling me there's a chance... *YEAH!*
