Bidunga held opponents to under 45% at the rim as the primary defender. That’s NBA‑level rim deterrence. Kentucky hasn’t had a big with that kind of defensive gravity since Anthony Davis.

He is going to be a load in the ACC!

Speaking of which, has anyone heard anything on the Hunter McClintock recruitment? Just saw his 'breakin ankles' highlight reel.

He struggled to stop taller centers. But his mobility allowed him to switch onto guards and defend them well.

This year's UofL squad seems to be following the exact script of year 2 for Pope, trying to play a different style with overpriced players. He will have to play a different style, he has no 3 point shooters & we know his teams chuck them up.
The only difference is they have legitimate big men that can hold their own inside. They still have shooters.

big 12 doesnt play anyone taller than 6'8. and now he is moving to the 4th or 5th best conference. smart move by him really.

I thought that was a ridiculous statement given these (Arizona - Krivas, Cincinnati - Thiam, Houston - Cenac, Iowa St - Buchanon) but the rest of the conference really does have only 6'8/6'9 centers. Interesting point.

If I had to make a choice between having Malachi Moreno or Bidunga, I am easily taking Moreno over him.

Last year the overwhelming consensus of opinion was that at 22$ million, Pope vastly overpaid for the roster he ended up with, and was poorly constructed, in the end.

This year, 20 - 30 NCAA division 1 teams are spending 20$ million plus to construct their rosters. While it may be said all of the teams spending 20$ million+ will have a better constructed roster than what we had last year, there is the simple fact that spending money at the rate the NCAA teams are, it is an unsustainable way to do business.

Looking at dUKe, they have massively spent on the best roster possible, and they got a final four out of it, and made the elite eight last year .... but is paying 40$ million plus for the past 2 years worth that? I cannot for the life of me see how that is in any way "worth paying for" those kind of results with THAT MUCH money being thrown around.

And now you got Louisville paying 20$ million plus .... and I look at thaty roster and wonder .... is it worth paying that much for ? Unless they win a title - NO.

Meh, I’m an UK fan so that’s of no concern for me… BTW, anyone hear if there’s any new news on the Stokes recruiting front? Last I heard he was Pope’s to lose after posting live on Instagram, shooting half court shots inside of Rupp. 🙄
You hear we hired Mark Pope to be the HC?
