Everyone is saying ESl wins easily. Not so fast the game is played on the field let it play out, One thing I do know ESL plays a lot of man coverage it cost them so long td’s throughout the season Glenwood can throw the ball and did last year if the Flyers does not put a safety over the top Glenwood will score more often. The Flyers will survive but I think Glenwood will throw a lot of tricks to catch them off guard.

Yes, we know the game is played on the field. Fans can have their prediction on the outcome of the game.

Common opponent - Edwardsville
Chatham won 38-31
ESL won 54-0

I don’t think the score gets out of hand like the last few matchups but ESL wins easily. Glenwood hasn’t seen a defense like the Flyers all year…

Last years game was 27-14 late in the 3rd when the wheels came off... If my fading memory is correct.

They are about to run all over them the score will probably be something like 51-21

Glenwood probably wishes they joined Rita, Richards and Batavia in petitioning up to 7a.

The Flyers are always among the best teams in the entire state and their strength of schedule usually lower's their seed. I'd like to see them in 8A every year. Pretty sure Coach Sunk and Eastside would be down for it. Their conference not so much.

think it would get ugly no matter who ESL plays. Joliet catholic was like watching slow paint dry on a wall. Big slow and a offense from 1979.
this is how anyone who actually watched the game would know you are just making **** up. If you were there, you'd have known joliet catholic was the smaller of the two teams and did not get in to the double wing once.

100 percent true. Over the last 30 years, you could look at a Joliet Catholic game and 97 percent of the time your reaction pregame would be "Joliet Catholic outsizes the opponent on the line of scrimmage and with big offensive backs. They are going to try to outmuscle them."

This year, in all but 1-2 games, the universal pregame reaction after looking at both teams would be "Joliet Catholic isn't as big as I am used to seeing. The offensive line is largely under 270 pounds and they don't have a running back who specializes in moving the pile."

Anyone who characterizes any part of this year's team as "big, slow, and an old system" very clearly didn't look at the roster and/or only watched a handful of plays or no plays at all.

I am hoping for a return to big, slow, and old school to some degree next year.

This is one of the bigger lines for the Titans in a good many years....

It was very difficult to watch.. JCA was disorganized. And why are they still in the 1980's having the qb run to the sideline to get the play?

I mean seriously, what about the success multiplier that should over rule their silly conference rule? ESL strives for excellence, and playing in 6A is a waste of time. The final sometimes can be a challenge, they actually lost 2-3 years ago? But the rest of it, including their conference schedule (not the non conference games) are just scrimmages..some years Edwardsville plays close..beat ESL during COVID shortened season, but that's it. It's got to be at least 7A, but really, playing IMG, Bergen Catholic, are above most 8A schools in Illinois.

It was ofallon, not eville, that beat esl during the covid spring season.

Also, there are several public schools who have been just as dominant in the reg and post season as esl who aren't already playing one class above their enrollment.

Funny how the Cary Grove and their Wing-T is 3-0 lifetime against the trash RPO EStL runs!~
3-0?

Per Google:
Cary-Grove has a 2-0 record against East St. Louis in their two most recent playoff meetings, including a 23-20 win in the 2023 Class 6A state championship and a 37-36 victory in the 2021 Class 6A state championship. The 2021 game was a one-point thriller that ended with an interception, while the 2023 rematch was also a close, come-from-behind victory for Cary-Grove, decided by a late touchdown and interception.

  • 2023: Cary-Grove won the Class 6A state championship 23-20.
  • 2021: Cary-Grove won the Class 6A state championship 37-36.

CG came to ESL several years ago. Way before they met in the state championship games.

And yet they have still figured out a way to play in 4 state championship games since 2018.
So, you're saying they've always been this disorganized and behind the times with getting the play calls into the huddle? Because I was referring to Saturday.
