So, you're saying they've always been this disorganized and behind the times with getting the play calls into the huddle? Because I was referring to Saturday.
They have been running the plays in during their 21 trips to the state championship game, so I am ok if they are behind the times. It has seemed to work remarkably well over the years. That is not the reason they lost on Saturday. As has been stated numerous times, this was not a typical JCA team.

3-0?

Per Google:
Cary-Grove has a 2-0 record against East St. Louis in their two most recent playoff meetings, including a 23-20 win in the 2023 Class 6A state championship and a 37-36 victory in the 2021 Class 6A state championship. The 2021 game was a one-point thriller that ended with an interception, while the 2023 rematch was also a close, come-from-behind victory for Cary-Grove, decided by a late touchdown and interception.

  • 2023: Cary-Grove won the Class 6A state championship 23-20.
  • 2021: Cary-Grove won the Class 6A state championship 37-36.

That’s a fairly desperate attempt to disparage ESL’s success; but I’m pretty sure that we all know the impetus behind it. We play Chatham Glenwood Saturday on the hunt for the 6th straight championship appearance. You coming?

Every ESL thread "something something something....Cary Grove"...
Its almost like beating ESL has become their identity. Which is unfortunate because they had a really good program way before the two state championship games.

What's the tailgating situation for visitors?
There is a strip of grass near the main parking lot (between the parking lot and the road) that is first come first serve, it usually fills up pretty early with Glenwood fans and it’s pretty small when accounting for the fact that it’s also where kids play football. I don’t believe they allow setup on the blacktop of the parking lot. The “secondary parking lot”, opposite side of the field, near the soccer fields, is dirt/grass depending on how much space is needed and is probably a safer bet for securing a large space.

I know. Had to go see if the CG folks posted this. I still remember the Lemont fans getting a little creative with photoshop and meme posting before a game a few years ago.
the people who refer to cary grove are rarely associated with cary grove. only regular poster i remember being an actual cary grove fan was greatgig13 and i don't think he survived the migration. people are just posting gotchas and seeing if you take the bait.

You my friend may have snagged yourself on that bait. Im not talking about Cary Grove folks. In a thread labeled Flyer at Glenwood im obviously referring to Chatham Glenwood. And I know that picture isnt real.

All.... I went to the Flyer/Titan game last year in town and was hanging out in the grass tailgate area which is a few yards away from the visitor entrance to the stands. Among all of those Titan fans there were no Flyer groups whooping it up. I had expected a boat load. As Travelin Fan mentioned there is another area nearby. Maybe they were over in that spot. The place to be though is the first which indeed fills up early. There is about 50 spaces where the cars back up to the fairly narrow grass area and set up. Titan fans are a pretty fun group to be around. My SHG flag always flies higher then their Titan flag. Had one of the Chatham teachers come up to me one season and described said flag as being ostentatious. Nicest thing it has ever been called. .... 😇 For Friday games they start arriving three hours early to get one of those 50 spots. I'm already parked to "greet" the early arriving hardcores. Not sure when they would roll in for the Saturday game. Ratsy

Glenwood will definitely put together a game plan for the flyers. I can see them keeping it close early. I expect the flyers to play man. There will be some opportunities there if we don’t get good pressure on the QB. Home field matters...I say we pull away in the second half.

100 percent true. Over the last 30 years, you could look at a Joliet Catholic game and 97 percent of the time your reaction pregame would be "Joliet Catholic outsizes the opponent on the line of scrimmage and with big offensive backs. They are going to try to outmuscle them."

This year, in all but 1-2 games, the universal pregame reaction after looking at both teams would be "Joliet Catholic isn't as big as I am used to seeing. The offensive line is largely under 270 pounds and they don't have a running back who specializes in moving the pile."

Anyone who characterizes any part of this year's team as "big, slow, and an old system" very clearly didn't look at the roster and/or only watched a handful of plays or no plays at all.

I am hoping for a return to big, slow, and old school to some degree next year.
Next year should bring Jca back to their power running game with an occasional play action pass. Can't wait
