Long time reader. Not many posts, but I must comment. If you ever see a flyover that is late, it is because the band/national anthem singer/flag twirlers/baton throwers/majorettes/ are late! The athletic department gives a time that they want the plane to flyover and that is all the pilots care about. The technology in most airplanes (C-17, T-38) allows the pilot to manually input a time into the flight management system and once the autopilot is linked up, the airplane will adjust the throttles to be at that certain point at that certain time.
Having said that. I totally agree that flyovers need to be some type of fast, loud, aircraft that is fun to watch. Not a heavy aircraft. </p>
