Had a thought after yesterday’s huge comeback win against Indiana. Nebraska has a chance, a darn good chance, to finish in the top 3 of the conference in the regular season. But…. They may not get a first team all-conference selection. They could get 4-5 on second and third teams though .

Who would be on the first team?

That freshmen PG from Illinois
Smith from Purdue
Maybe the dude from OSU
Yaxel from Michigan

I can't think of the others right now?

Rienk is in contention for player of the year. Even if he doesn’t get it, and he continues to play like he does, first team should be a given.

You would think, but B1G showed several times the top scorers in conference play. Mast was not one of them. All-conference tends to lean toward the top scorers. It would be a tragedy if Mast continues his strong overall play but not get rewarded with first team. Seems like this could be a remote possibility - but a possibility nonetheless.

The B1G does what the B1G does sometimes.

Maybe, Nebraska is a well-balanced team with TEAM being the key. Yesterday Jamarques, previous games Pryce and Rienk carried the load and the real glue seems to be Sam (swiss army knife) most nights. My concern is more about their depth which may come into play very soon. Many games they roll with 7 players, it's not a deep bench and that will wear you out come Feb. I realize Jarusevicius has been nursing back issues/conditioning but they will need to start inserting more against the bigger teams just to eat up min. and give some players a break. Also, my guess is that the Blue kid is just not able to pick things up which will force Sam/Jamarques to extend min. on the court. While Cale does a nice job when he's been in, he not quick enough to hold up to more athletic players he'll see in the next two months.

Lol... we aren't going to see more athletic guards than we saw from teams we have already played. Yaxel at Michigan will be as athletic as Thorton at Ohio St, Boswell at Illinois, Haggerty at Kansas Stste and Blackwell/Boyd combo at Wisconsin

He is and was not ever the primary defender, but the team has held up so far against some of the best guards in the country. He does his roll and if he continues to play his role we will be fine
