Fortunately the 2 individuals that were
in critical condition have since had their statuses upgraded and are stable.
Obviously this is not good for NASCAR's image and under NO circumstances is it acceptable for fans to be impacted like that but this really was a set of circumstances that just created a perfect storm. The fact that the fence held off what it did from a car spiraling at 180+ MPH is a miracle in itself.

People are hoisting Bud Lights and the obligatory three fingers with the injured literally laying all around them. Now that is NASCAR raw and uncut. Gotta love it. Long live the Intimidator .
Seems to me that a simple solution is to not have seats that close to the track. Move 'em back up, maybe 100 feet above.
I'm no NASCAR fan, but the only people raising and waving their hands/beers looked to be trying to indicate someone needed help up there. Not some kinda celebratory "that was awesome" reaction.
