We have a bowl game Friday and no prediction thread and very little other discussion. I realize that I’m not even sure who we play. I know it’s an ACC team, I think maybe NC state (checks, it’s Wake Forest). Anyway, I’m gonna go with Hail State - 38, Demon Deacons (what kind of name is that?) - 27.

Damn, checks board & there is a prediction thread. Still a lot if apathy though.

Agreed. I haven’t watched a minute of any bowl game yet. But I will watch ours and I hope our 2026 team beats their 2026 team.

I definitely keep up by buying season tickets in football, basketball, & baseball along with contributing to NIL. Our fanbase and boosters are investing financially at levels I never thought possible.

The whole 2 year debacle with Hutzler (who never should have been hired) really took a lot of my emotional "give a damn" away.

We are about to attack the portal with more money that most on this message board could imagine. We are totally revamping the roster and it will be up the Lebby and staff to deliver on the field next fall but it won’t be for lack of funds

Yeah. All the transfers, coaching hires and fires... makes the whole bowl season feel disjointed from the regular season. Therefore feels like spring practice or something similar that I just can't quite describe.

Also already having a round of playoff games with more this weekend, puts bowl

I'm going to predict the Mayo bowl game will be less entertaining than most of our spring games.

By far our biggest investment in NIL isn’t even making the trip for the bowl game because he lost his job to a true freshmen from 20 min away. Not much of an “investment”, if you ask me.

By far the biggest investment in the staff, besides the head coach, also isn’t making the trip for the bowl game. The reason is because he was let go after the Egg Bowl because he was terrible. But, through our amazing “investment”, we’re still going to pay him more NOT to coach in 2026 and beyond than we will pay anyone to coach in 2026….except Lebby. His replacement was freaking unemployed, so its hard to see that being a huge “investment”. But if it was, then God help us.

Why? Facilities don’t win games. We need to be spending money on players.

There’s a big difference between investment and just aimlessly blowing money. Even if you think we’re doing the former, it’s really not hard to follow the actual money and be not super excited about the bowl game.

What has Lebby done to instill faith that he knows how to take advantages of his advantages?
I see 1-15 conferences record.
Pissed away Tennessee, Florida, And Texas games, nearly pissed away ASU, and got lucky against Arkansas the lone conference win.
Excuse us if we take a wait and see approach. Because to me a program that rolls the dice on first time AD, who hires first time HC who hire first time DC and now has circled back to former fired HC, is a program that isn’t taking football serious.
Compare our top down decisions to Indianas or even Ole Miss and maybe you’ll see, we appear to be throwing ideas against the wall and seeing what sticks instead of executing a proven formula.

Well that’s one thing I won’t be doing….because I literally couldn’t care less.

For one Shapen wasn’t the biggest investment. Not sure how that rumors got started so that’s kids family is extremely wealthy and while we paid him he wasn’t making 7 figures
Now the other I’m assuming you’re making assumptions about is LK. Again. We didn’t pay him 1MM. He had a nice deal but nowhere near the rumors. Also, he’s going to the bowl game but I’m sure you missed that

Hutz was on a contract that allowed us to get out relatively unscathed as he had a mitigation clause. He’s on Auburns staff now DA.
I wasn’t a fan of re hiring ZA but the guy was on staff at FSU last year and OM the year before. He was a decent DC before he was an terriabke HC Adding Brock ( DC at UCONN) was big, Ty Warren has upside and we are adding a Saftey coach and an assistant DL coach.
On offense adding Bush and John’s were big hires and still adding more staff after bowl including off field staff for scouting

Facilities. We are expanding and renovating the Seal complex and adding the IPF not to mention some improvements to DWS

It was implied that our biggest investment wasn’t making the trip to the bowl game. Basically saying shapen was a large investment. Which was false. It’s been rumored that Luke K was making over a million again false. Also stated he wasn’t going to the bowl. He is, so again another false statement

I've been a fan since the 70's.

I've yet to see any long-term plan for football, except the RTGDB crowd, right or wrong, rearing their heads every so often.

ETA - this is why I have kept quiet during the discussions. I don't have a good answer.
