Football: Lebby ranked dead last in the Power 4.

Well, look who he coaches for! It's not entirely his fault!

Posted this before, but if we scored the most points we scored in any SEC / P4 game in EVERY SEC game and P5 game last year, we would have still only gone 2-7 in those 9 games.
Also, if we surrendered the fewest amount of points of any SEC / P4 game in EVERY one of those games, we would have gone just 1-8 in those 9 games.
We were unimaginably terrible last year in every possible area. Sign of a coach and staff that is in way over their heads.

The question I would like to know where he would be on a list of all FBS schools.
There are at least 10 G5 coaches right now that wouldn't take our phone call. There's 10 more that would easily be an upgrade and probably 6 more that would be an under the radar upgrade. That puts him 95th out of 130. If not for Croom, who was only hired because Alabama interviewed him, Lebby would be the worst hire in Mississippi State history. Hopefully we realize that at the end of the year and just move on.
2 win seasons will do that. He also lost points for keeping the DC after being one of the worst defenses in the country.
Who’s to say he’s not worse than Croom? Croom at least won two SEC games his first season, with a probation strapped roster.

I don't think Croomed will ever be replaced. I mean I had the Smack Apparel shirt from the Florida win that said "Hey Florida The Stark Reality is You We're Croomed & Marooned 38-31 Later Alligator!" A lot of us were there for the Croom years. They sucked, but not a single one of them was anywhere close to as bad as last year was.
I will give Lebby a slight pass because of what he inherited. Unfortunately I saw zero semblance of improvement as the year went on.
It was definitely part of the reason. I know what you are getting at, but there were TONS of African American candidates that were more qualified than Croom. Larry T took the lazy route
Lebby did inherit a mess but still a team that managed to win 4 games and he halved that in his first season. I was in favor of giving him time to do his thing but, he presided over a team with the worst defense I have ever seen in my 64 years on this earth and refused to make a change. For that reason he should be coaching for his job this season.
Inherited a team that won 5 games and won 40% as many. For all the hell Arnett catches (mostly deserved), Lebby was not an upgrade at best, really a downgrade.
And we have put the dude that hired Lebby in charge of hiring the head baseball coach.
In my book he went from give him some time to hot seat because of his lack of action on the defensive staff after last year's debacle.
Lebby inherited a much worse team than Arnett did. Arnett brought back a bunch from a 9 win team. Lebby inherited a team that lost a bunch of production and had to deal with Leach/Arnett's complete lack of recruiting, particularly on defense. Almost every single player Lebby lost off that roster he inherited transferred to a worse league. That being said, losing to Toledo is embarrassing and not acceptable. Bringing back Hutzler was also inexcusable.
It wasn't that much worse. Even Arnett would have won 3 games minimum last fall, maybe 4.
It was a lot worse defensively talent wise, but I agree that Arnett probably would have won 3 games.
If Arnette had promoted JR to OC and said over the next three years, we are getting away from the spread but ran the spread his first season he would have won some games he had 18 starters coming back from a ranked bowl game. He blew it.

I keep hoping against hope that there is someone with actual baseball knowledge helping our forlorn athletic director with this search. Our athletic dept is truly in a god-awful situation.
Don't forget Lebby started out with less talent than all the other teams and followed it up with an injured starting QB backed up by a true freshman that started most of the season. I also think some of his assistants crapped the bed last year, especially offensive line and the entire defense most games.
Yes he did. Ray Charles would have won 9-10 games with that team. It took real work to go 5-7. I still wonder if Arnett was in Ole Miss employ to nuke the football program

Seriously? That team was better than 5-7, big it was nowhere near a 9-win team. Not even close.
BUT… if we’d done both of those things in every SEC/P4 game, we would’ve gone 11-1 with 9 31-30 wins and a 17-41 loss to Toledo
