Too bad beach volleyball couldn't find some sand around here to bring in at least$1 of income.

I doubt this is really different than most schools. Football and Men's basketball have always been relied on to fund the other sports. I doubt there are more than a few schools besides us that make money with the volleyball program either. We've at least come close to breaking even with baseball in the past too.

In America, football is KING.

Never understand the people who continue to claim (for decades now) that futbol will overtake football in America.

Bowling had 500k in expenses? Why are they not taking advantage of Maplewood Lanes 3 game special for $12.99 and it includes shoes!

Some of those leave me wondering where they come up with their expenses and how they add up to that much.

My best guess is that travel expenses must be outrageous for teams. Time to start bussing players everywhere!

I wonder how much they allocate for a full ride scholarship expense, which then gets paid back to the school.....

My take away is that track and field (which likely doesn't balance scholarships much - meaning approximately same amount of men and women) gets killed financially. I understand why we fund softball and other female sports for title IX, but in a sport that has both and just gets decimated financially, I'm not sure why we keep funding it.

Because it helps with some football recruits (Joshua Moore) ;)

You all are making the mistake of talking about these other sports as though the AD is operating at a loss. It's not.

You cut those non-revenue sports and do what with the savings? Massaging recliners in Memorial Stadium? A lazy river in the football locker room?

To put MORE money into football so that football can be it's best. To afford to pay a head coach $5 mil and assistant coaches $1 mil. To own a jet to fly coaches to recruit.

There is always more than can be spent to make the cash cow more successful.
