Sumlin is a vastly overrated head coach. His offense will not win in the SEC. Look at how his team did the year that his QB Keenum was injured.El Gringo Loco said:Sumlin is a heck of a coach and recruiter. My U of H buddies(the few that actually follow their sports!) were heartbroken when he left for A&M. He did a heck of a job at U of H recruiting the second tier guys in Texas .. vs the real cream that UT or A&M (then Baylor or T Tech) were after and that U of H didnt have much chance with. Texas is like Florida.. there are SO many Div 1 blue chippers here...
With his recruiting ability and A&M's name, he is gonna be formidable. I am not happy the SEC took them in and put them in our division on top of that. Sumlin already has a pretty stout 2013 committment list while we await our first committment(unless i missed something??).....
Fedora was offered the Aggie job and turned it down. He is from College Station and he knows A&M will struggle in the SEC early on. He also knows A&M fans have fast triggers when it comes to letting coaches go. Instead he goes to North Carolina and gets a 7 year contract. At UNC he will learn to become a better head coach(he still has a lot to learn) and at UNC with their NCAA penalties they just got, he is under no pressure and if he eventually wins 7 or 8 games there, they are happy. If he progresses as a head coach, he will move on to a bigger job, if not, he can probably stay at UNC as long as he wants within reason.Big D said:He had three winning seasons and one losing season. The three winning he had Keenum and the one losing Keenum was hurt. I said this here a few months ago, he will not be at A&M more then two season.</p>
