anyone know anything on the jackson prep qb buchanan? being that he's from prep i figured he'd be an om lean but they're been several write-ups on him in the ncaa rumors on espn. he visited florida last week i think and has now gotten an offer from bama and multiple other big time schools. we need to sign a good qb this class so you'd figure we'd be on him since he's from ms. anyone got any info on the kid?

he ends up staying in-state. JMO from what I've seen...

Almost all the major competitors in the SEC already have qb's committed. Personally, I'd be ok with Buchanan committing to UF.

IMO Cord Sandberg is still the top qb on our board...

Bo talked to Buchanan while livin the lifestyle down at Turquise Place on Orange Beach. Unless they really hit it off over a Shapley's steaks that Bo had flown in and shared a couple of sticks afterward, I can't see him ending up anywhere but OM.

I talked to one of my coaching buddies in the area. He's a big kid, has a cannon of an arm, and can make every throw. Definitely has every physical tool you could want in a pro-style QB. His big weakness is reading defenses.

I wouldn't get my hopes up on him, I don't think we are in his Top 3. He could very well end up at OM, but with Bama, Florida, and Auburn after him, I wouldn't call him an OM lock at all.

As far a legit QB prospects for us that fit in well for our system, look to Devante Kincade out of Dallas and Cord Sandberg out of Bradenton, FL. Both are high on us and are very athletic and nicely rated QB prospects. I'd be thrilled if we can get either...

Pros: He's big and has a big arm. All the recruiting service guys say he is a super nice kid and Im assuming he is very smart since he goes to Prep.

Cons: He plays at prep which plays against very weak competition. Prep is so much better than everyone they play talent wise, he has not been against any type of competition what so ever. He threw for 1500 yds with 16 tds and 11 int's. Those numbers with his competitive advantage are pathetic, especially the int's against all those 5'6 dbs running 5 flats they face.

What I really dont understand is how he has blown up. Its like his hype is feeding of his hype. This kid is the most highly sought after QB recruit in MS in a long time. Think about the stats, measurables, and competition of Jason Campbell and Tyler Russell. All big time. Then wrap your brain around the fact that Ryan Buchannon with his stats and competition is more sought after. I dont even care to get it... All that said, I wish him the best wherever he goes, I just dont see him making a big impact anywhere

Since you've been spending the last 2 years watching MAIS football, while Mullen, Saban and Muschamp were just leading SEC programs...im content to know we won't be missing out on this scrub.

Our best player, literally the best DB we might have ever had, which is a good list of guys, went to Maben. 1A. If they're that good, half the time they'll be found. The other half they end up at JUCO then end up somewhere like Alabama or they end up at a small school and go on to be a beast in the NFL (Favre, Flacco, Fitzpatrick, Culpepper, Ryan, Romo).
