This was the big discussion on XM as I drove home from State College today. Cignetti is making $8.3 million at Indiana this year. Can PSU afford the $56 million to Franklin PLUS pay Cignetti the $10-12 million/year he would command in the coaching market right now? Not likely. Could Florida do it? Maybe? Could FSU? Maybe? But does Cignetti want to start over again at a more high profile school at 64 years old? Or does he want to make the most of his time at Indiana and probably get a raise from them for next year? The overall thought is that he stays at Indiana.
Plus he has Mark Cuban money. Good luck trying to match that

I think Ruhle’s agent is busy and will be when it comes to the opening but Campbell makes more sense financially.

I agree that Matt Rhule would need some time but he is a much better head coach than he’s being given credit for and other than a 3 point loss to Michigan he has Nebraska playing hard. With a couple of lucky rolls he could get Nebraska to win 10, potentially 11 games and that means playoffs. Yeah he may be a slightly weaker recruiter than Franklin but he is a profoundly better game day coach. JMHO
Look up his record vs good teams in his career...

No. Also no to Dan Mullen and no to Manny.

Bielema. Cignetti is probably going to the final four at least and that's way too long to wait for something that's a pipe dream...

Talk to Urban and make sure he doesn't want back in the game then hire Brett and never get beaten like a step child at scrimmage again. I don't mind 10-2 or 9-3 but this has been 19 years of playing like females up front. NO more.

I love the possibility of Cignetti but this might need to be a quick hire and it's not going to be an up and comer or a guy from anywhere other than a power 4 coach.

He doesn’t beat good teams. That’s a problem when one reason the last guy was fired was his inability to beat good teams.

If Kraft allowed me to write a statement on the coaching search.

We are going to explore all options in our search for our next head football. This includes coaches and coordinators we have played or will play this year.

Put a shot across the bow of the SS Oregon Ducks for Coach Will Stein.

You would rule out Manny Diaz?
Yeah I’m all about OC. Young QBs learning new verbiage every spring, imo, is a huge problem. Philly hurts, my Super Bowl champion, hints how much it sucks. Im not worried about 1 or my birds but anybody watching knows the O is not clicking (yet)

Why is everyone seemingly in love with these young coaches and OC’s who love speedy skinny player football?

Franklin successfully demonstrated that crappola approach doesn’t work in the B1G or in championship games.

And yet some of you goofballs are asking for more. 🤷🏼‍♂️🙄🤷🏼‍♂️🙄

Who are these coaches?
This hire is about NIL and the Portal--they have to find someone that truly embraces both
You also want a guy that's going to be here for a long time if things go well.
Not sure why people want to hires coaches close to retirement--maybe they want guys their age. I want them to hire a coach younger than me and younger than Franklin

I think, given the choice, I’d prefer skinny player football (whatever that means) over whatever it is I’ve been watching Penn State play the last 7 season on offense.
