For comparison's sake... let's look at the similarities between Jackie and Stans

Jackie did not replace a successful coach... he was responsible for building our football program through the 90's. Although Stansbury replaced a successful coach, Williams, it did not take it long for Stans to make this his program. Let's look at the eerie similarities...

1. Both coaches recruited talented kids that really did not get looked at by other programs, mainly because of character and attitude problems
2. Both coaches lost many headscratchers
3. Both coaches were at least competitive with Ole Miss (Sherrill), or dominated them (Stans)
4. Both coaches had good success (even on a national level) using their recruiting and coaching strategies... but those same strategies kept them from staying in the national spotlight for long (a positive spotlight, that is), and those strategies subsequently destroyed their respective programs
5. Both coaches' departure were followed by key players leaving the program
6. Both coaches left their programs in shambles. No one expected Crxxms to win his first year, no one expects Ray to win his first year
7. Both coaches left at the "right time." As Sherrill is now called "The Kang," Stans will probably gain that kind of fan support in a few years. Ray will have time to rebuild, but if he doesn't have success, everything from this point forward will be his fault.
8. Both coaches are currently the winningest coaches in their respective sports.
9. You can even throw Ron Polk II in this comparison (maybe not recruiting and the Ole Miss comparisons)...
10. ALL 3 COACHES WERE HIRED BY LONNIE TINKLE.

Did I miss any?

We were never the worst team in the country under stans last few years though. I've never seen a worse prepared and fundamental team than jackies last few.

And a fast RB trying to pass of fake $100 bills was not key to our program.<div>
</div><div>Worst part for Stans is that the 2011-12 team was vastly more talented in its sport than any of the 2001-03 football teams.</div>

but its all water under the bridge now.

Suffice to say, both coaches let the program spin out of control.

a hell of alot quicker than football though, especially in SEC country.

Less players, small learning curve, less physical development required, SEC basketball < SEC football, etc..
