The Finals were good but overall I thought this was one of the worst playoffs in years. Injuries ruined what could have been some really good series. No Rondo. No Rose. No Deng. No Westbrook. No Granger. No Kobe.
Think how good the Knicks/Celtics could have been. Or the Heat/Bulls.
The playoffs could have been much different, but im not sure they would have been much better(as in close and thrilling).
- No Rondo?...eh oh well, that team wasnt going deep even with him.
- No Rose or Deng?...this is where I agree with you as these guys could have really made the series more competitive. Maybe its that they still lose just as quickly, only there are less blowouts?...but the games would have been more competitive.
- No Westbrook?...I just dont think losing him made the playoffs bad. The Thunder lost games by 6, 6, 6, and 4. Those games were all very close, with one even going OT. It was a very competitive series, even if it ended 4-1 in favor of Memphis.
- No Granger?...because of no Granger, we got to see a breakout by George on the biggest stage. As Hibbert said, its the Pacers, they arent on TV, so the breakout was huge. And we saw Hibbert basically double his season scoring avg. If Granger played, the team dynamic would have been completely different. You really didnt think the Heat-Pacers series was a good series? I thought it was a great series. It matched the greatest player in the world against an ubertalented up and comer. The series had an OT game and went to game 7.
- No Kobe...yeah, that was a terrible series, but it was also a first round 2 vs 7 series. I dont expect 1vs8 and 2vs 7 series to be great, its an exception to the norm when they are. LA was horribly overmatched even with him, hence their hilariously bad season.
The only series that was bad and could have been great because of injuries was the Heat - Bulls.
