I could not agree with you more bornaneer...although I'm thinking we may be in the minority...
I love most forms of racing and NASCAR makes me fall asleep in my chair usually.

I enjoy the Indy racing and used to go to the Toronto Indy religiously, then Tony George angered me a bit when CART and IRL merged and it was taken off the sched for a year or 2...It was then that I really got into American LeMans quite a bit more (now Weathertech Sportscar Championship I think?). I go to that race at Mosport here (bout 15 mins from my house), and just love it. The prototypes pull top end speeds very close to that of Indy Cars and it's cool to see them on the track with all the other different classes of GT's, Porches, Ferrari's, Vette's etc...if not difficult to follow the leader however lol!
I've also been to Montreal a couple times years ago for F-1, when Villeneuve was still racing and what a party that is! I'm a Team Renault fan in F-1 and happy to have the factory team back on track this year...These days I root for Hinchcliffe the Canadian lad, and pretty much anyone not named Will 'I think I'm gonna cry' Power in the Indycar series...
Who's your fave driver and series to follow?

As a long time attendee of the Indy 500 I like Indy Car the best and have been to many Indy Car races around the Country. Hopefully they can get back to the days before Tony George screwed it up. The pre race crowd and buzz before the 500 now is nothing like it was before the split. I also follow F-1 closely, I went to a couple of the F-1 races when they were at Indy, I would like to make it down to Texas to see one. Right now I like Scott Dixon with Ganassi and Hunter- Rey with Andretti Autosports. Over the years I have at times liked different teams based who was driving for them. Canada has produced many great Indy Car drivers, Tracy,Villeneuve,Carpentier and many others. Greg Moore who I thought could have been one of the best ever was killed when he was just reaching elite status. I had the chance to talk to Hinch at Indy and he is a really good guy. It's good to see him healed and back in a car. He did a good job tonight at Phoenix, to bad he is stuck driving a Honda powered car. Like you, I do enjoy all forms of auto racing.....even NASCAR....but Indy Car and F-1 are my favorite.

Ah Greg Moore...my all time fave. I remember the day quite vividly when he was killed in that horrific accident. Halloween at Homestead a number of years ago...such promise. And many thinking he was destined for NASCAR because of his distinct ability to dominate the oval as a young driver. The thing I really liked about him was his reputation for unifying the paddock even among rival drivers, and his reputation with fan friendliness. I wish I could have met him.
Indeed there have been a good crop of Canadian drivers throughout the history of the series, PT,PC,Tags and now Hinch...I actually have a big signed print/painting of Carpentier winning the Michigan 500 Tagliani is in it as well after giving him a bit of a tow to the finish line, even details the cast he was wearing on his arm that day...I often wonder if Greg Moore shoulda been in the car that fateful day with his own cast on, but he was a competitor so I think they woulda had to pry him outta that car...

Yes I too quite like Dixon and Hunter-Rey. Both seem to be very approachable guys and such good racers...
I was at Indy about 15 maybe 20 years ago now (my age is showing now lol), and was amazed with a number of things...the sheer size of the track, the amount of breakneck speed cars were slingshotting out of the corner at, the surprising ease of entry/exit from the facility for several hundred thousand people (man they have crowd control down to a science), and the city of Indianapolis itself, loved it!!! So easy to get around just about everywhere, but I guess a city built in the round with multiple entry/exit points from freeway has that advantage!
Montoya was the winner that day (I think his first), and all these years later, here he is still competing!

Like you I would love to get down to Texas for a race....I used to love that one on the streets of Houston. And I often try and cross reference the EERS sched with the race sched to see if Texas would line up for BOTH so far, no luck unfortunately....
